MACOMB, Ill. – Omaha Women's Basketball fell on the road to Western Illinois, 90-41, on a snowy Saturday afternoon.
The Mavericks (1-10) had a slow start against the Leathernecks (8-1) with only 18 points in the first half. Omaha nearly doubled the score in the third quarter with 12 more points. The Mavs tallied 11 in the fourth to end the game.
Graduate
Sarai Estupiñan (Cedar Park, Texas) led the way with 15 points in 22 minutes. Estupinan fouled out in the fourth quarter. Freshman
Elsa Vedral (Omaha, Neb.) and junior
Ali Stephens (Fort Wayne, Ind.) were next up with seven points each.
Sophomore
Daria Shelby (Canton, Mich.) recorded a career-high 35 minutes on the court. Shelby tallied five points with a pair of assists and rebounds.
Freshman
Avril Smith (Omaha, Neb.) recorded her fifth game with double-digit rebounds, totaling 11. Stephens (Fort Wayne, Ind.) was next up with six rebounds for the third game in a row.
The Mavericks will face crosstown rival Creighton at home on Wednesday, Dec. 17 at 6:30 p.m. for Millard Night.
