Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women's Basketball falls to Lindenwood, 85-41

OMAHA, Neb. - Lindenwood scored the game's first 16 points Saturday and went on to an 85-41 win over the Omaha Women's Basketball team at Baxter Arena.

Freshman Elsa Vedral (Omaha, Neb.) led Omaha (1-6) with nine points off the bench, while graduate student Sarai Estupiñan (Cedar Park, Texas) and junior Ali Stephens (Fort Wayne, Ind.) each added eight.

For Vedral, a freshman from Omaha Marian, it was a season high. Lillian Merow (Port Washington, Wis.), another freshman, also had a season-best with 10 rebounds.

But the Mavericks (1-6), who played without leading scorer junior Cora Olsen (Omaha, Neb.), ran into a Lindenwood team that was hot from the start.

Lindenwood (4-1) hit eight of its first 10 field goal attempts in building a 22-3 lead seven minutes into the game.

Vedral already topped her season high when she made a reverse layup with four minutes left in the first half as Omaha was within 41-20.

But Lindenwood, whose only loss this season is to Baylor, scored the last nine points of the first half and stretched its margin to 63-27 early in the second half.
Lindenwood was shooting 60 percent from the field at that point.

Lindenwood finished the day with five players in double figures, shot 54.1 percent from the field and hit 12 3-pointers.

Omaha was held to 25 percent shooting on the day.

The Mavs are off until Wednesday Dec. 3 when they play at Idaho State as part of the Big Sky-Summit League Challenge.
