OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha Women's Basketball will open its 54
th season at Kansas State on Monday, Nov. 3 at 6:30 p.m. CT.
It's a whole new day in Omaha with a new coaching staff and an overhauled roster.
Jamie Carey became the 10
th head coach of the Mavericks on May 4. She comes to Omaha from UTSA where she served as the associate head coach from 2021 on. The Roadrunners won the 2025 American conference championship under Carey's tutelage.
Carey is joined on the staff by assistant coaches
Leah Szabla,
Claire Gritt,
Madi Townley and
Dan Levine.
Three Mavs return to the team, sophomore guard
Daria Shelby (Canton, Mich), junior forward
Ali Stephens (Fort Wayne, Ind.) and junior forward
Cora Olsen (Omaha, Neb.) Twelve newcomers round out the roster with nine freshmen, one sophomore, one junior and one graduate student.
The Mavericks and Wildcats have met seven times since 1981. K-State leads the series 7-0 all-time. The closest Omaha has come to beating K-State was in 1981 when the Wildcats beat the Mavs 79-77 in Manhattan, Kan. The series has been played five times in Kansas and twice in Nebraska.
Omaha was picked to finish eighth in the Summit League preseason poll.

Varsity Network online.
