OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha Women's Basketball defeated Avila, 81-55, in a home exhibition match on Sunday.
The Mavericks started scoring early and did not let up for the full 40 minutes. There were no lead changes and no tie scores.
Omaha was led in scoring by junior forward
Ali Stephens (Fort Wayne, Ind.), one of three returning players from last season's squad, who tallied 17, shot 50% from the field and 57.14% from the arc.
The Mavs were pulling down rebounds left and right with 49 total rebounds to Avila's 37. Freshman forward
Avril Smith (Omaha, Neb.) led the team with 11 total rebounds, six offensive and five defensive.
Omaha opens the season on the road with a trip to K-State on Nov. 3 at 6:30 p.m. CT. The game will be streamed on ESPN+ and live stats will be available.
