Vice Chancellor / Director of Athletics Adrian Dowell announced today an extension for Omaha Women's Basketball head coach
Carrie Banks.
"After advancing to two conference championship games during her first three seasons, Coach Banks has demonstrated an ability to successfully navigate the post-season which is vital at the mid-major level," said Dowell. "Although last year's regular season was not up to our standards, we are working with coach on all facets of the program to elevate competitive success throughout the entire season, and we are excited about the roster's potential moving forward."
Banks, the Ohio native, capped off her fourth season with the Mavericks. During the 2024 campaign, Banks made her third Summit League Tournament appearance. In her four years, Banks has led Omaha to two Summit League Championship games. In the Maverick's three appearances in the tournament, Banks has gone 5-3.
"I would like to thank our Athletic Director, Adrian Dowell, Chancellor Joanne Li and Senior Women's Administrator Lindsey Ekwerekwu for their tremendous leadership, unwavering support of our student-athletes and belief in my vision for Omaha Women's Basketball," said Banks. "I am so grateful for the opportunity they have afforded me to continue to lead this amazing group of young women."
Over her four seasons, Banks has coached two All-Summit League selections and one Summit League Player of the Week. Her team's success continues in the classroom, collecting two CSC Academic All-District nods, six Dean's List honors, and three Chancellor's list honors.
"Omaha has become my home and I am so grateful for the incredible people who support our program. I am excited about the future we are building together and am confident that the relentless efforts from our coaching staff and players will continue to elevate our success."
