The Omaha Mavericks have added former Penn State defenseman Dylan Gratton to the 2024-25 roster.
"I had a lot of really good conversations with everyone on the coaching staff and it seemed like they all are very in tune with the developmental side of the game," Gratton said. "They are very invested in all of their players, as well as believing in them that they can accomplish the goals they want to some day achieve."
A native of Pottstown, Pennsylvania, Gratton joins the Mavericks after his freshman and sophomore seasons at Penn State. Gratton appeared in 69 games for the Nittany Lions scoring five goals (1 GWG) and adding 19 assists. The new Maverick blueliner has four multi-point games under his belt. Last season he recorded a three-game point streak where he logged five points (1g, 4a). He blocked 63 shots last season which was sixth most in the Big 10. Gratton visited the penalty box just two times while at Penn State, once each season.
Before Penn State, Gratton played in 153 games in the USHL totaling 44 points. He helped lead the Sioux City Musketeers to the 2022 Clark Cup Championship.
"When I got to check out the facilities, I was in awe of how nice everything was. Baxter Arena is beautiful, and the underneath area for the players has everything that they need to not allow them to fail but to thrive."
"Meeting the immediate staff and support staff in person allowed me to solidify the feeling I had, talking over the phone to them all, that they are incredibly invested and very dialed in all aspects of being a student-athlete with having access to a sports psychologist, a nutritionist, a grade-A weight room, and all other comforts that the facility has to offer," Gratton said.
