Box Score The 3-seeded Omaha Mavericks fell in a back-and-forth battle tonight with No. 2 Minnesota, 3-2 in the Sioux Falls Regional semifinal.
After a scoreless first period, the Mavericks started the second period with 4:05 remaining on a contact to the head major penalty. Just 1:51 into the period, Jo Lemay fired home his fifth goal of the season with a snapshot from just above the left side circle. With 1:59 left in the frame, Minnesota capitalized on a defensive zone turnover to pull even with Omaha at 1-1.

Minnesota responded at the 9:15 mark of the third period with the equalizer. With under five minutes to play, Minnesota capitalized on lost an edge on a zone exit. Minnesota went in and tipped home the game winning goal with 4:13 remaining in regulation.
With the season on the line, Omaha threw everything but the kitchen sink at the Gophers with multiple scoring chances in the final 60 seconds but were unable to light the lamp. Through the full 60 minutes, Omaha nailed three posts throughout the contest.
Finishing the season with the second most wins in program history, Omaha wrapped up the 2023-24 campaign with a record of 23-13-4.
