Mavericks Looking to Bounce Back at North Dakota State

The Omaha Mavericks will travel down the road to Fargo to tip off against the North Dakota State Bison on Saturday, Jan. 13 at 1 p.m.

Quick Hits
    • The Mavericks head to NDSU with a 4-12 overall record, having gone 1-7 on the road and will look to pick up their first conference win as they have are 0-3 in Summit League play. 
    • Omaha fell to North Dakota last night in a 100-75 final decision. 
    • Grace Cave paced the Mavericks with a career-high 27 points. Cave went 8-of-17 from the field, 4-of-6 on three-pointers, and 7-of-8 from the free throw line. Cave also led with five rebounds, three assists, and one block. Omaha was out-shot on the field 33.9% (20-of-59) to 57.6% (38-of-66). The Mavericks were also outshot from the three 36.4% (8-of-22) to 55% (11-of-20). Though the Mavericks did make up on the free throw line out-shooting 71.1% (27-of-38) to 56.5% (13-of-23). 
    • Alongside Cave's preceding performance, was Ana Nikulochkina who had a new career-high two assists, and steals against the Fighting Hawks. 
    • The Mavericks scoring offense ranks in the top 100 in the country. Their 74.4 average points per game is good enough for 67th in the nation. Though the Mavericks are doing well offensively, they have struggled on the defensive side of the ball. While allowing 83.8 points per game they rank 345th nationally. 
    • The Mavericks' 17.25 free throws made per game ranks them 7th in the nation and first in the conference. 
    • Omaha stays in the top 30 at the 27th spot for bench points with 27.5 per game. 
    • Ranking them 63rd is their three-point percent of .349.
    •  Stanley has gone 42-of-48 on the line and is currently shooting 87.5% from the line, which now ranks her 34th among all Division 1 players eligible to be ranked. 
    • Stanley paces the team with 203 points, averaging 12.7 per game. She holds a .469 field goal percentage. Going 27-of-57 she holds a team-high .474 three-point percentage. 
    • Leading the Mavericks in total and defensive rebounds is Grace Cave with 69 and 53, respectively. P. Nikulochkina has now moved into the spot as team leader in offensive rebounds with 18. 
    • Cave has taken over as assist leader with 50, averaging 3.1 per game. With 24, Grant leads the team in steals and Cave leads with seven blocks. 

Scouting the North Dakota State Bison
    • North Dakota State hosts Omaha with an 8-7 overall record. They are undefeated with the home-court advantage this season, going 6-0, and in conference play 2-0.  
    • NDSU played Kansas City last night winning 63-60. 
    After trailing by as many as 16 points in the first half, the North Dakota State women's basketball team battled back to earn a 63-60 win over Kansas City on Thursday night at Scheels Center. 
    • Abbie Draper led the way for NDSU (8-7, 2-0 Summit) netting a game-high 18 points with six rebounds and three assists. Elle Evans poured in 17 points of her own on 3-of-5 shooting from three and 8-of-8 from the free throw line. Heaven Hamling closed out the group with 16 points and tied a career-high six steals.
    • As a team, NDSU shot 33.3 percent (18-54) from the field and 65.7 percent (23-35) from the free throw line. The Bison also scored 24 points in the paint and 14 points off of turnovers.
    • The Bison's 71.6 points per game ranks them 98th nationally and 4th in the conference for scoring offense. But defensively, the 69.2 points allowed per game ranks them 282nd nationally.  
    • From the field, the Bison shoot .411 percent, and from the three they go .341. On the free throw line, they have shot a .731. 
    • Heaven Hamling will be one to watch as she leads the team with 210 points and 30 steals. Defensively, Elle Evans holds the team-high 74 rebounds and 17 blocks.
