Mavericks Wrap Up First Conference Road Trip at NDSU

LEADING OFF 

After beginning conference play with a 2-0 victory at North Dakota on Thursday, the Mavericks head to Fargo, N.D. for a clash with the Bison of NDSU on Sunday, Sept. 24. 

QUICK KICKS 

  • The Mavericks earned a 2-0 win over the Fighting Hawks of UND on Thursday. Sophia Green had the second goal for Omaha after an own goal by North Dakota gave the Mavericks the lead. 

  • Green leads the Summit League with seven goals and 16 assists through nine games. Green set a new career high for goals in a season after scoring six times as a freshman and sophomore. 

  • Green's goal against the Fighting Hawks was the 21st goal of her career with the Mavericks. She holds the Omaha Division I record for goals and points in a career with 21 goals and 50 points after passing Chelsi Rohloff's 19 goals and 46 points from 2013-15. 

  • Goalkeeper Emma Konsmo made three saves in the victory over North Dakota. The sophomore was named TicketSmarter Summit League Defensive Peak Performer of the Week on Monday. 

  • Konsmo has started all eight matches for Omaha, ranking third in the league with a goals-against average of 1.00. Emma ranks second in the Summit with four shutouts this year after a clean sheet against the Fighting Hawks. 

  • Omaha was tabbed third in the Summit League Preseason Poll after finishing third in the regular season last year. 

  • Grace Ostergaard and Regan Zimmers were named Players to Watch by the Summit League. 

  • Head coach Tim Walters enters his seventh season at the helm. He has recorded 47 wins on the pitch, including three Summit League semifinal wins, one Summit League championship and a NCAA Tournament appearance. 

  • The goalkeeping duo of senior Mia Reedtz and sophomore Emma Konsmo combined for eight team-shutouts last season. Reedtz started 12 matches last season between the pipes with a save percentage of 72% and a goals-against average of 1.25. Konsmo started 10 matches in net with a save percentage of 76.5% and an average of 1.54 goals against. 

  • Five newcomers joined the Mavericks this season, including four freshmen and one redshirt-sophomore transfer. 

SCOUTING THE NORTH DAKOTA STATE BISON 

The Bison of North Dakota State are 4-3-3 and 0-0-1 in the Summit League after a 1-1 draw in their conference opener against Kansas City. The Bison have three shutout victories on the season with wins over Coastal Carolina, Northern Colorado and Arkansas Pine Bluff. North Dakota State is playing its eighth home match of the year as the Bison have garnered a record of 3-2-2 at Dacotah Field in Fargo. 

BISON TO WATCH 

• Olivia Watson leads the Bison with three goals and seven points through 10 games. Watson netted goals in back-to-back games, scoring the game-winner against Northern Colorado before tallying another in the next match against Creighton. Last season as a sophomore, Watson finished second on the team with six goals and 14 points over 20 games. 

• Amaya Garrett is second on the team with three goals and six points. Garrett scored the first goal of her career against Montana. The freshman added game-winning goals against Coastal Carolina and Arkansas Pine Bluff. Garrett joins her sister Gabrielle at NDSU after playing for the Eagles of Omaha Central. 

• Goalkeeper Abby Wilkinson has started all 10 matches for the Bison, averaging 1.20 goals against. Livingston leads the Summit League with 50 saves this season and is tied for second with an average of five saves per game. Wilkinson has three clean sheet wins this year. 

SERIES HISTORY 
North Dakota State leads Omaha 10-7-1 over 18 meetings. The Mavericks have won the past two regular season meetings but are just 4-6 over the last 10 matchups with the Bison.
