A season after being picked to place 7th in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference Preseason Poll, the Mavericks have been tabbed 6th in this year's Preseason Media Poll. Tying their best-ever finish in the NCHC last season with a 3rd place finish and a record of 13-9-2 in conference play, Omaha will look to replicate what they accomplished last season and prove the preseason poll wrong for the second year in a row. With their 3rd place finish in 2022-23, the Mavericks secured home ice advantage for NCHC Playoffs for the first time in Baxter Arena history. Full poll results can be found below.

The 2023-24 Mavericks are showcased by 18 returning letterwinners from last season and eight new faces to bring the roster total to 26 players. The breakdown of returners for Omaha is 11 forwards, six blueliners and sophomore netminder, Simon Latkoczy.

The Mavericks six ranked wins last year all came against NCHC foes. They are highlighted by a 3-0 road victory over the No. 1 Denver Pioneers, a home sweep of the No. 14 Western Michigan Broncos, a 2-0 road win against the Broncos and 6-2 triumph over then No. 6 St. Cloud State on Senior Night.

Omaha entered the USCHO and USA Today polls during the second half of the season and stayed there until the final list of the season came out. The Mavericks got as high as 14th and finished 20th in the last poll of the 2022-23 season.
