Omaha Welcomes UCSB To Caniglia Field

LEADING OFF 

The Mavericks are 1-1-2 following a 2-1 loss to Wyoming in Omaha on Sunday. Omaha welcomes the Gauchos of UC Santa Barbara to Caniglia Field at 5 p.m. on Thursday. 

QUICK KICKS 

  • The Mavericks dropped their first match of the season to the Wyoming Cowgirls on Sunday. Sophia Green scored the only Maverick goal of the game on a penalty kick. 

  • Omaha enters play on Thursday with a record of 1-1-2, with a 4-0 win over Southern Utah and two draws with Utah Tech and Missouri. 

  • Goalkeeper Emma Konsmo leads the Summit League with 20 saves over four starts this season. 

  • Sophia Green netted her team-leading third goal of the year in the loss to Wyoming. Green is tied for second in the Summit League with three goals to start the season. 

  • Green ranks second in the Summit League in points (8) and shots (15). She has scored in two straight matches for the Mavericks. 

  • Omaha ranks second in the Summit League with an opponents' scoring average of 1.00 goals per game. 

  • The Mavericks are 1-1 in penalty kick attempts after Green's pk goal on Sunday against the Cowgirls. 

  • Omaha was tabbed third in the Summit League Preseason Poll after finishing third in the regular season last year. 

  • Grace Ostergaard and Regan Zimmers were named Players to Watch by the Summit League. 

  • Head coach Tim Walters enters his seventh season at the helm. He has recorded 44 wins on the pitch, including three Summit League semifinal wins, one Summit League championship and a NCAA Tournament appearance. 

  • The goalkeeping duo of senior Mia Reedtz and sophomore Emma Konsmo combined for eight team-shutouts last season. Reedtz started 12 matches last season between the pipes with a save percentage of 72% and a goals against average of 1.25. Konsmo started 10 matches in net with a save percentage of 76.5% and an average of 1.54 goals against. 

  • Five newcomers join the Mavericks this season, including four freshmen and one redshirt-sophomore transfer. 

SCOUTING THE UC SANTA BARBARA GAUCHOS 

The Gauchos of Santa Barbara come to Omaha with a 1-1-2 record after a 3-1 loss at Pacific on Sunday. Like the Mavericks, the Gauchos got their lone win on the opening day of the season, defeating Loyola Marymount by a score of 2-0. UCSB has played to draws with San Jose State and Fresno State. 

GAUCHOS TO WATCH 

• Olivia Howard leads the Gauchos with three points, including a goal and an assist. Howard scored the game-winner in the season opener for UCSB against Loyola Marymount and picked up an assist on the second goal of the game against LMU. 

• Howard, along with Manuri Alwis, Leila Emmerson and Lauren Helwig lead the Gauchos with one goal each on the year. 

• Goalkeeper Sabrina Hinz has a goals-against average of 0.67 over four starts this season. Hinz has allowed two goals and made 11 saves over 270 minutes in net for the Gauchos.

This is the first meeting between UCSB and Omaha.
