OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha women's soccer was unable to hold on Wednesday in the Dodge Street Derby as the Mavericks' (2-4-2) 2-0 first half lead was erased by the home Bluejays who emerged victorious, 3-2.
The Mavericks struck first in the 10th minute when sophomore forward
Charley Kort (Lincoln, Neb.) buried a free kick from just outside the box, marking her second goal of the 2025 season.
Kort doubled the lead 20 minutes later, rising to meet a corner service off the boot of junior defender
Grace Bartlam (Rosemount, Minn.), finishing her second goal of the opening half and third of her career.
In the 65th minute, Kendal Radke cut the deficit to one with her first career goal for Creighton.
Omaha senior goalkeeper
Charlotte Huggard (Plymouth, Mich.) stood tall in the 76th minute, making another key save for the Mavericks to hold the 2-1 lead with 14 minutes to go in the match.
In the 88th minute, junior defender
Grace Bartlam (Rosemount, Minn.) received a yellow card, setting up a Bluejay free kick. Ariana Mondiri capitalized on the opportunity to equalize. Two minutes later, Creighton secured the victory with a goal from Mallory Connealy.
Omaha continues its away spell Sunday, Sept. 14, when the Mavs face off against Western Illinois., at 1 p.m. CT on ESPN+.
