Omaha women’s soccer hosts Colorado State

OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha women's soccer (3-4-2) hosts Colorado State at Caniglia Field on Friday, Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. CT. The match will stream on the Summit League Network.
 
About Omaha
Last time out, Omaha women's soccer (3-4-2) defeated Western Illinois 7-1 Sunday, setting the program record for most goals in a single match in the Mavericks' Division I history.

Six different Mavericks scored in the match, including junior defender Emma Hampton (Urbandale, Iowa), who recorded two goals. Junior defender Grace Bartlam (Rosemount, Minn.), senior forward Kayla Hassler (Lincoln, Neb.) and sophomore midfielder Sammie Edwards (Denver, Colo.) each tallied their first career goals.

The Mavs entered halftime with a 5-0 advantage, one goal shy of tying its program record of six goals in a single match.
In the second half, graduate forward Payten Ivins (West Haven, Utah) made history with her third goal of the season, giving the Mavericks its seventh of the contest, breaking the team single-game high.

Freshman defenders Cadence Dobberstein (Omaha, Neb.) and Selena Di Luciano (Toronto, Ontario, Canada) also made their collegiate debuts during the match.

The Mavericks outshot Western Illinois 30-4 overall, including an 18-2 advantage in shots on target.
 
Scouting the Opponent
Omaha will face Colorado State for the 14th time in series history Friday when the Mavericks and Ram's meet for the second time in two years. During their last matchup, Omaha fell to Colorado State 1-0. 

The Rams enter Friday's matchup at Caniglia Field with a 6-1-0 record. Senior forward and Olivia Fout lead Colorado State with five goals while junior midfielder/forward Michaela McGowan leads with four assists.

On Aug. 25, after the squad's unbeaten weekend in Florida, three members secured Mountain West weekly awards. Senior forward Olivia Fout was named Offensive Player of the Week, sophomore goalkeeper Gray Willson earned Defensive Player of the Week, along with freshman Piper Carlson garnering Defensive honors.

Following the matchup with the Rams, the Mavericks begin Summit League play in Fargo, N.D. with kickoff against North Dakota State set for 6 p.m. CT on Thursday, Sept. 25 live on the Summit League Network.
