This Week
    The No. 14 Omaha Mavericks head North to Grand Forks, North Dakota to wrap up the regular season with the Fighting Hawks.

The Teams
    The Mavericks are sitting at 18-11-3 (13-7-2 NCHC) after splitting with the No. 6 St. Cloud State Huskies last weekend in Omaha. The Mavericks currently sit in second place in the NCHC with 41 points. Omaha comes into the weekend winning 10 of their last 13 contests.
     North Dakota enters this weekend's series with a 14-13-6 (8-10-4 NCHC) record. The Fighting Hawks were in Colorado Springs last weekend taking on the CC Tigers. They skated to a 2-1 OT victory on Friday night and drew 0-0 in Saturday night's tilt. North Dakota took the extra NCHC point winning the shootout 1-0. 

Last Time Out
    The Mavericks and Fighting Hawks opened up NCHC play against each other back in November. North Dakota won the series opener 4-1 and then the NCHC rivals skated to a 3-3 tie the following night in the series finale. The Mavericks won the shootout behind a 40-save performance from Senior netminder Jake Kucharski.

All-Time vs. North Dakota
    The Mavericks and Fighting Hawks are primed for meetings 51 and 52 this weekend. The all-time series is currently  30-18-2 in favor of UND. When the game is played in Grand Forks, the all-time series sits at  15-9-1 in favor of the Fighting Hawks.

Mighty Miller 
    Miller's 10 lamp lighters before last weekend tied his career high. His 10th goal came on the power play two weekends ago at Miami in Friday's game. It ended up being the game winning goal, his second of the season. He set a career high for single season goals last weekend lighting the lamp for the 11th time this year.

Among The National Leaders 
    The Mavericks 24.0 power play percent is good for 12th in the country currently. Omaha has lit the lamp on the power play in nine of their last 13 games. The Mavericks are 13-5-2 when scoring a power play goal.

Among The Conference Leaders 
    Nolan Sullivan (.592), Jake Pivonka (.560) and Cam Berg (.541) sit 2nd , 5th and 9th respectively in NCHC faceoff win%. Omaha is the top ranked team in the NCHC in faceoff winning percentage at .535 percent. That is good for 7th in the NCAA.

Seeing Multiples
    The Mavericks have had 14 players register multi-point games this season. 1- Bremer, Fust, Lemay, Slipec, Sullivan. 2 - Pennington, Pivonka. 3 - Mueller,. 4 - Guevin. 5 - Miller, Weiss. 6 - Berg, Tychonick.  9 - Randl.

The Middle Frame
    The Mavericks are outscoring their opponents 46-29 in the 2nd period this season. They have 88 more shots than their opponents, outshooting them 380-292 in the second 20 minutes. The Mavericks are 13-2-1 when leading after 40 minutes of hockey.

Young Guns
    The freshmen defensive pair of Jo Lemay and Jacob Guevin have been a mainstay for the Mavericks on the blueline. The pair has played in 27 games on the blueline together and have registered 3 goals, 20 assists for 23 points.

Jonny Rockets
    Graduate defenseman Jonny Tychonick is having the best season of his collegiate career. The Calgary, Alberta native ranks second on the team in points (26) and currently leads all Maverick blueliners in goals (8), assists (18) and points. His previous career high in points was 11, which he set in his sophomore season at North Dakota. Tychonick's 26 points is good for 4th among NCHC blueliners. Tychonick assisted on the fourth and sixth goals for Omaha last Saturday.

Simon Says
    Rookie netminder Simon Latkoczy is 10-3-1 on the season. He currently holds the sixth best save percentage in the NCAA at .926%. His 2.07 goals against average is the eighth best mark in college hockey while his .750 winning percentage sits third in the NCAA.

On Their Best Behavior
    In 32 games, the Mavericks have taken 124 penalties, 3.88 per game. That is the least amount of penalties taken among NCHC teams. The next closest team is Colorado College with 133.

Responding
    The Mavericks are 4-2-1 this season in the second game of series where they lost the opening game.

    Junior forward Riese Gaber leads the Fighting Hawks in goals with 19. His 19 goals ties him for fourth in the NCHC. He is tied for first in the conference for power play goals with 11.
