SCOUTING THE SOUTH DAKOTA COYOTES
The Coyotes of South Dakota are tied for third place in the Summit League heading into week three of conference play. The Yotes are 6-3-3 overall and 3-1 in the League. They bring a high-scoring offense that is currently ranked third in the Summit League with 23 goals in 12 matches. The Coyotes won their last game against North Dakota by a score of 2-0 in their fifth team shutout of the year.
COYOTES TO WATCH
• Ashby Johnston is second in the league behind Sophia Green with seven goals and 16 points in 12 matches. Johnston recently tallied a season-high two goals in the Yotes' 3-1 victory over St. Thomas.
• Freshman Brooke Conway is second on the team with four goals and 12 points so far. Conway shares the team-lead for assists with four on the year. Conway had a two-assist game in South Dakota's 7-0 win over Morningside. The next game against Idaho State, Brooke recorded the first two goals of her career to help the Coyotes win 3-2.
• Goalkeeper Caroline Lewis has started all 12 matches for the Coyotes, averaging 1.20 goals against with a save percentage of .791. Lewis has logged four clean sheets this season and one combined shutout with Coyotes' keeper Waverly Patterson.
SERIES HISTORY
Omaha has won 20 of the 25 meetings with South Dakota as the Mavericks lead the all-time series 20-3-2. Omaha and South Dakota played to a 1-1 draw when the two met last season. The Mavericks are 5-3-2 over the last 10 matches with the Coyotes after winning the first 17 contests between the schools.
