Mavericks Travel North for Matchup with Tommies

LEADING OFF 

The Mavericks travel to St. Paul, Minnesota to play the St. Thomas Tommies on Sunday, Oct. 22 at 1:00 p.m. for the penultimate match of the regular season. 

QUICK KICKS 

  • Omaha enters play on Sunday with a record of 5-4-5, 2-1-3 in Summit League play. 

  • With just two matches left, Omaha is ranked fifth in the Summit League with nine points. 

  • The Mavericks won a thrilling match last Sunday at Caniglia Field. Omaha scored twice in the final five minutes to defeat Kansas City by a score of 3-2. 

  • With the win and some help around the conference later in the week, Omaha secured its fourth-straight appearance in the Summit League Women's Soccer Championship.

  • Mia Reedtz Rehde Olesen made her third-straight start of the season and picked up her first win against the Roos after back-to-back shutouts in two draws. 

  • Reedtz was named the TicketSmarter Summit League Defensive Peak Performer of the Week after her performance against Denver (Oct. 1). Goalkeeper Emma Konsmo was named the League's Defensive Peak Performer after the win over Oklahoma (Sept. 18). 

  • Konsmo started all eight non-conference matches and the first three games of league play, garnering four shutouts. Since then, Reedtz has started three league games and recorded shutouts in two. 

  • Senior forward Sophia Green leads the Summit League with eight goals, 19 points and 46 shots through 14 matches. 

  • Jordyn West and Grace Ostergaard have started 73 matches for the Mavericks and share the Division I era program record for career starts. 

  • Omaha was tabbed third in the Summit League Preseason Poll after finishing third in the regular season last year. Grace Ostergaard and Regan Zimmers were named Players to Watch. 

  • Head coach Tim Walters enters his seventh season at the helm. He has recorded 48 wins on the pitch, including three Summit League semifinal wins, one Summit League championship and a NCAA Tournament appearance. 

  • Five newcomers joined the Mavericks this season, including four freshmen and one redshirt-sophomore transfer. 

SCOUTING THE SAINT THOMAS TOMMIES 

The Tommies of St. Thomas wrap up their regular season with the Mavericks on Sunday. Headed into the final match, St. Thomas has an overall record of 3-6-5, 1-4-2 in Summit League play. The Tommies most recently played to a 0-0 draw with the Fighting Hawks of North Dakota. St. Thomas has one win in league play this season after defeating Oral Roberts by a score of 1-0 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  

TOMMIES TO WATCH 

• Mariah Nguyen leads the Tommies and is tied for seventh in the Summit League with five goals on the year. Nguyen also leads the team with 12 points. Earlier this season, Mariah recorded a hat trick, scoring three goals against Niagara on Aug. 19.  

• Jasmine Gates leads the Tommies in assists with three on the season. Gates had two assists against Niagara, and recently recorded her first goal of the year in a 2-1 loss to Denver. 

• Goalkeeper Olivia Rowe has started all 14 games in net for St. Thomas this season. Rowe has made 67 saves, garnering a save percentage of .788 and a goals-against average of 1.30. 

SERIES HISTORY 
The Mavericks are 2-0 all-time against the Tommies. Omaha opened the series with a 1-0 win in 2021 at St. Thomas, adding another victory with a 2-1 result at Caniglia Field in 2022.
