Quick Hits
  • The Mavericks nearly pulled off two incredible upsets last week against SDSU and USD as they were up at halftime in both games, only to lose momentum in the second half and fall by seven points both times. They now enter this week at 9-11 overall and, for the first time this season, are below .500 in league play at 4-5.
  • Omaha actually outshot South Dakota overall at 42.1% (24-for-57) to 39.7% (25-for-63), but where the Coyotes managed to pull away was in 3-PT FG% (34.8%, 8-for-23 vs. 23.1%, 6-for-26) and FT% (70.6%, 12-for-17 vs. 69.2%, 9-for-13).
  • Grace Cave set a new season high with 19 points on Saturday, giving her exactly 200 points on the year and 10.0 PPG. She also had two assists and a steal to give her 60 and 35 of each, both firmly landing her in the top 10 in the Summit League. Last time out against Kansas City, Cave scored nine points and pulled down eight rebounds.
  • Aaliyah Stanley broke into the Summit League top 10 in scoring after putting up 16 points vs. South Dakota to give her 246 total (12.3 PPG). When Omaha played the Roos back in December, Stanley had an all-time performance with 34 points, 12 field goals (12-for-17), and eight free throws (8-for-10).
  • Elena Pilakouta slots in at seventh in the conference with 269 points (13.5 PPG) after adding 14 more to her total on Saturday. Shooting 7-for-7, her FG% improved to .612 (112-for-183), good for second in the league and 13th in the NCAA. Pilakouta's seven rebounds also increased her season total to 127 (6.4 RPG), the eighth most in the conference. She racked up 10 points and seven rebounds at Kansas City back in December.
  • Kennedi Grant missed Omaha's last game against the Roos with injury, but will look to get ever closer to the 200-point mark as she enters the game just 24 away with 176 (9.8 PPG). She had 24 points across both games last week.
Scouting the Roos
The Roos are currently 10th in the Summit League at 6-14 overall and 2-7 in conference play. Last week, they went 1-1 at home after upsetting North Dakota 78-67 and later falling 66-75 to North Dakota State. Earlier this season, they were handed their fourth conference defeat in a 75-64 loss to the Mavericks on New Year's Eve. They were out-rebounded 35 to 33 and outshot 48.0% (24-for-50) to 39.7% (25-for-63) in that game.
