This Week
The Omaha Mavericks are set to close out their six-game homestand when they welcome the Miami RedHawks to town this weekend.

The Teams
The Mavericks are sitting at 11-9-2 (6-5-2 NCHC) after sweeping the Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs last weekend. The Mavericks, who were picked to finish 7th in the NCHC preseason poll, currently sit in sole possession of 3rd place with 21 points.
Miami enters this weekend's series with a 7-13-2 (2-9-1 NCHC) record. The RedHawks are coming off a tough weekend against the Denver Pioneers where they got swept and fell 7-0 both nights at Magness Arena.

Last Time Out
This will be the first two meetings of four this season between the Mavericks and RedHawks. These two teams last met in February of 2022 at Goggin Ice Arena where the RedHawks swept the Mavericks.

All-Time vs. Miami
The Mavericks and RedHawks are primed for meetings 58 and 59 this weekend. The all-time series is currently 29-21-7 in favor of Miami. When the game is played in Omaha, the RedHawks hold a slight series lead of 12-11-3.

Jack Attack
Senior forward Jack Randl is currently tied for third in NCAA goals with 15. Randl has found the back of the net at least once in every series this season except against SLU and Both UMD series. The series against SLU is the first time this season he was held scoreless. He is the first player in program history to score 8 goals in the first 6 games of a season. The previous record of 7 was held by Austin Ortega (15-16) and Brandon Scero (06-07).

Consistency Is Key
Sophomore forward Ty Mueller has recorded points in 18 of the Mavericks 22 games and is currently 2nd on the team in points with 20. Mueller has recorded at least one point in 13 of the Mavericks last 16 games.

Mighty Miller
Junior forward Matt Miller had a four-game goal streak snapped after the Friday night battle against Western Michigan. Miller becomes the 20th player in program history to score goals in four straight games. He joins Jack Randl as the only other Maverick to accomplish that feat this season.

Mighty Miller II
Since returning from missing three games due to injury, Miller has recorded points in nine of the 12 games he's played in. His most recent lamp lighter came against UMD last Friday when he buried a shorthanded goal. The second of his career.

Among The National Leaders
The Mavericks 27.8 power play percent is good for 3rd in the country currently. That mark is 2nd in the NCHC, shy of North Dakota's 31.6 percent.

Among The Conference Leaders
Nolan Sullivan (.573) Jake Pivonka (.558), sit 3rd and 6th respectively in NCHC faceoff win%. Omaha is the top ranked team in the NCHC in faceoff winning percentage at .532 percent.

Seeing Multiples
The Mavericks have had 13 players register multi-point games this season. 1-Fust, Lemay, Slipec, Sullivan. 2 - Pennington, Pivonka. 3 - Berg, Guevin, Mueller, Tychonick. 4 - Miller, Weiss. 7 - Randl.

The Middle Frame
The Mavericks are outscoring their opponents 32-21 in the 2nd period this season. They have 49 more shots than their opponents, outshooting them 247-198 in the second 20 minutes. The Mavericks are 8-2-0 when leading after 40 minutes of hockey. On the opposite, Miami's second period on the road is their worst period for them. They're being outscored 22-8 in the 2nd period in road games.

Young Guns
The freshmen defensive pair of Jo Lemay and Jacob Guevin have been a mainstay for the Mavericks on the blueline. The pair has played in 17 games on the blueline together and have registered 2 goals, 14 assists for 16 points.

Jonny Rockets
Graduate defenseman Jonny Tychonick is having the best season of his collegiate career. The Calgary, Alberta native ranks third on the team in points (19) and currently leads all Maverick blueliners in goals (6), assists (13) and points. His previous career high in points was 11, which he set in his sophomore season at North Dakota.

Jonny Rockets II
Tychonick's 19 points is currently tied for 4th among NCHC blueliners with Western Michigan's Zak Galambos. Tychonick is averaging a point per game in his last 12 games played (4-8=12) and is a +4. He's been held off the scoresheet only four times in the last 12 games.

On Their Best Behavior
In 22 games, the Mavericks have taken 82 penalties, 3.73 per game. That is the least amount of penalties taken among NCHC teams. The next closest team is Colorado College who has taken 93.

The Opponent

Currently sitting in last place in the NCHC with 7 points, the Miami RedHawks are avergaing  just 2.27 goals per game.

Special Teams

Miami holds the 8th ranked power play (19.3%) in the NCHC and on the opposite have the 7th ranked penalty kill(75.5%). However, the RedHawks have scored the 2nd most shorthanded goals in the conference with 3.

The Sin Bin

Currently, Miami leads the NCHC in penalty minutes per game (13.30) and penalties per game (4.86). This could be a favorable matchup for Omaha's 3rd ranked power play if the RedHawks get in penalty trouble this weekend.

Players To Watch
