Quick Hits
  • The Mavericks dropped both games of their North Dakota trip, being narrowly edged out at the last second by UND (63-65), before being downed 71-83 by NDSU. Omaha is now 8-9 with a 3-3 record in the Summit League.
  • The Mavericks had their highest FG% in their entire Division I history on Saturday as they shot 59.6% (28-for-47). This is also the second highest FG% in program history, falling just 0.1% shy of the record set on December 13, 2002.
  • Elena Pilakouta turned in one of the finest performances of her career at NDSU as she shot a perfect 13-for-13 from the floor and totaled a season-high 28 points. Her 13 field goals are tied for eighth in Omaha history for single-game field goals made. This was also her 50th career double-digit scoring game and her 13th of the season, tying her total from 2018-19 for the most she has had in a single season. Now with 997 career points, Pilakouta is all but guaranteed to become the 27th member (fourth in the D1 era) of Omaha's 1000 point club.
  • Aaliyah Stanley overcame a slow start Saturday to earn her fifth consecutive game with double-digit points with 13. In just her last five games alone, Stanley has scored 99 points to nearly double her season total to 214.
  • Kennedi Grant continues to perform well since returning from injury, notching 11 points, three assists and a team-high four steals at NDSU. This was her eighth double-digit scoring game this year.
  • With 166 on the season, Grace Cave is only six points away from setting a new career high in single-season points.
  • Akili Felici has three 3-PT FGs and 11 points in her last two games after entering the week on a three-game scoreless streak.
Scouting the Pioneers
The Pioneers currently sit at 7-10 on the season with a 3-3 mark in the Summit League. Like Omaha, their last two games were both at North Dakota State and North Dakota, falling 71-43 to NDSU and 68-57 to UND. Last season, Denver went 10-20 with a 5-13 record in the Summit League. After advancing to the Summit
League Tournament, they fell to South Dakota State 59-86 in the quarterfinals.

Freshman guard Emma Smith is Denver's leading scorer with 203 points and 12.7 PPG, the eighth highest average in the Summit League, and is likewise ranked eighth in free throws made, 50-for-70  (.714). Smith has topped 20 points twice this season, including 24 at Stetson back in December.

Senior forward Makayla Minett is first in the Summit League in both rebounds (165) and blocks (39). With five double-doubles on the season, Minett was two points away from her first career triple-double after putting up 16 rebounds and 10 blocks at Kansas City two weeks ago.

In addition to being second on the team with 11.1 PPG (189 points), graduate student guard Ally Haar is third in the league with 73 assists. She had her first double-double of the season vs. Colorado Christian when she scored 10 points and had 10 assists.

Head Coach Doshia Woods is in her third season leading the Pioneers and owns a 24-46 record. Before coming to Denver, she was a member of the Tulane coaching staff for 10 seasons, helping the Green Wave to seven consecutive postseason appearances, as well as an appearance in the 2015 NCAA Tournament.

All-Time Against Denver
The Mavericks are just barely edged out by the Pioneers in the all-time series at 10-11. Both teams took one game last season, with Denver winning 71-62 in Baxter before Omaha got even with a 62-50 win on the road. Pilakouta totaled 14 points and 12 rebounds across both games while Katie Keitges had nine points and four steals.
