Mavericks Head North to South Dakota

LEADING OFF
Omaha heads north for two league matches. First on the slate, the Mavericks head to South Dakota for a 4 p.m. kickoff on Friday vs. the Coyotes. The weekend concludes at an undefeated South Dakota State squad. Kickoff between the Mavericks and Jackrabbits is 1 p.m. Sunday in Brookings. Omaha looks to pick up its second straight league win, while both the Yotes and Jacks have yet to win a league contest.

QUICK KICKS
• Omaha earned its first conference win last week with following a game winner from Sophia Green in the final ten seconds of play. 
Cece Behrens gave the Mavericks a 1-0 lead with her second goal of the season in the 20th minute. NDSU tied the match in the 85th minute.
Maggie Gunderson gained control of the ball in the 90th minute feeding it to Green who took it up the field for her first goal of 2022.
• Prior to the win vs. NDSU, Omaha played to a 0-0 draw vs. North Dakota. The Mavericks outshot the Fighting Hawks, 20-1.
• Behrens leads Omaha with two goals this season, while Green, Emilie Erland, Alyssa Hansen, and Grace Ostergaard have one each.
Mia Reedtz Rehde Olesen got her third shutout in goal vs. UND. She's made 30 saves this season and has a 1.19 goals against average.

SCOUTING THE SOUTH DAKOTA COYOTES
The Coyotes wrapped up non-conference action with a 1-5-3 record and enter the week's action 1-5-4 overall and 0-0-1 in league play. South Dakota's lone win of the year came against Dordt on Aug. 30. The Yotes played to a draw in their last three matches. Most recently, USD and SDSU played to a 0-0 draw in the league opener. USD also played Iowa State to a scoreless draw, and back on Sept. 8, USD and Drake ended in a 2-2 tie.

COYOTES TO WATCH
• Shaylee Gailus leads the Coyotes with seven points this season off three goals and an assist. Gailus notched five points vs. Dordt for a season-high. She netted two goals and assisted on one. Her other goal this year came against Colorado St.
• Three goalkeepers have seen time between the posts with Caroline Lewis logging the most minutes. She's made 40 saves this year and holds a 1.73 goals against average.

SERIES HISTORY
Omaha leads the all-time series 20-3-1. Sophia Green helped the Mavericks to a 1-0 win vs. the Coyotes last season with a goal in the 63rd minute.
