The Omaha women's basketball team will host St. Thomas for their final regular season game of the season Saturday at Noon at Baxter Arena. The game can be heard on 1180 The Zone with Jon Schriner on the call. Links to live stats, audio and video are available on OMavs.com.
Quick Hits
• The Mavericks are coming off a 62-50 victory over the Denver Pioneers. The win snapped a 10-game losing streak for Omaha.
• Omaha was previously scheduled to face Western Illinois on Thursday Feb. 24 but the game was canceled and deemed a no contest to due to the Leathernecks adhering to the COVID-19 protocols.
• Natalie Bartle led the Mavericks in scoring against Denver on Feb. 19 with 16 points, Mariah Murdie joined her in double-digits with 11 points to go along with her six rebounds.
• Omaha made a season-high 10 three pointers against South Dakota State on Feb. 12., with Kennedi Grant making a team-best three of those. The previous high was seven threes against Western Illinois on Dec. 22.
• Seniors Elena Pilakouta and Mariah Murdie were the lone Mavericks to score in double digits against both NDSU and UND on Feb. 3 and Feb. 5. They scored 19 and 12 points respectively against the Bison and both led Omaha with 17 points against the Fighting Hawks.
• Murdie has now scored in double digits in 40 career games, while leading the Mavericks in scoring in 23 games. She's the Omaha active leader in at least 10 different categories including points, assists, rebounds, steals and blocks having played in 99 career games for the Mavericks.
• Alexis Pratt scored a career-high 17 points against Kansas City on Jan. 29 including a perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line, she also recorded a career-best three steals. Pratt's previous career high was 10 points at Western Illinois on Dec. 22.
• Omaha was tabbed eighth in the Summit League Preseason Poll. The Mavericks finished last season 7-13 overall with a 4-8 league finish. They earned the eighth seed in the Summit League Tournament last spring and advanced to the Championship game before falling to South Dakota.
Scouting the St. Thomas Tommies
• The Tommies are coming off a 66-63 loss to the Denver Pioneers on Thursday, Feb. 24. They are led by Jade Hill and Erin Norling who are averaging 13.7 and 13.6 points-per-game respectively.
• Head coach Ruth Sinn is in her seventeenth season in charge of the Tommies. Sinn is 362-109 in her time in charge including 356-88 in Division III.
All-Time Against St. Thomas
Omaha leads the all-time series against the Tommies which consists of just one game 1-0. The Mavericks won the first ever matchup between the two teams 61-55 on Dec. 20 in St. Paul, Minnesota. Elena Pilakouta led the Mavericks with 18 points and seven rebounds in that game.
