Omaha To Face Denver in Final Road Contest of Season

The Omaha women's basketball team will head on to Denver for their final road trip of the season to take on the Denver Pioneers Saturday at 3 p.m CT. The game can be heard on 1180 The Zone with Jon Schriner on the call. Links to live stats, audio and video are available on OMavs.com.


Quick Hits

• The Mavericks are coming off road losses to South Dakota and South Dakota State. They fell to the Coyotes 61-35 on Feb. 10 before falling to the Jackrabbits 77-62 on Feb. 12.

• Omaha made a season-high 10 three pointers against South Dakota State, with Kennedi Grant making a team-best three of those. The previous high was seven threes against Western Illinois on Dec. 22.

• Seniors Elena Pilakouta and Mariah Murdie were the lone Mavericks to score in double digits against both NDSU and UND on Feb. 3 and Feb. 5. They scored 19 and 12 points respectively against the Bison and both led Omaha with 17 points against the Fighting Hawks.

• Murdie has now scored in double digits in 40 career games, while leading the Mavericks in scoring in 23 games. She's the Omaha active leader in at least 10 different categories including points, assists, rebounds, steals and blocks having played in 99 career games for the Mavericks.

Alexis Pratt scored a career-high 17 points against Kansas City on Jan. 29 including a perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line, she also recorded a career-best three steals. Pratt's previous career high was 10 points at Western Illinois on Dec. 22.

Sophie Johnston scored a season-high 10 points against Kansas City Jan. 29. It was the first double digit scoring output for Johnston since she scored 10 against Denver on Feb. 22, 2021. She has drained at least one three in six of her last seven games.

• Omaha was tabbed eighth in the Summit League Preseason Poll. The Mavericks finished last season 7-13 overall with a 4-8 league finish. They earned the eighth seed in the Summit League Tournament last spring and advanced to the Championship game before falling to South Dakota.


Scouting the Denver Pioneers

• The Pioneers are coming off road losses to both South Dakota State and South Dakota last weekend. They fell to the Jackrabbits 79-52 and to the Coyotes 81-53. They are led by two-time Summit League player of the week, Uju Ezeudu, who is averaging 17.8 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.

• Head coach Doshia Woods is in her second season in charge of the Pioneers. Woods is 15-33 in her time in charge, her first head coaching position.


All-Time Against Denver

Denver leads the all-time series against the Mavericks 11-9. The Pioneers won the first matchup of the season on Jan. 20 at Baxter Arena 71-62.

Elena Pilakouta and Mariah Murdie both scored in double digits in that loss with 12 and 11 points respectively. Sophie Johnston also drained three shots from beyond the arc in the loss.
