Tipping Off

Quick Hits
- After winning their first road game of the season last Thursday thanks to a come from behind 56-51 victory over Pepperdine, the Mavericks came up just short in a 69-68 overtime loss to CSU Bakersfield on Sunday.
- Despite being outshot, the Mavericks were able to keep the game close and hold several leads by out-rebounding the Roadrunners 41 to 34, as well as out-stealing them 13 to five. As a result, CSUB turned the ball over 25 times, directly leading to 32 points for Omaha.
- Aaliyah Stanley and Grace Cave each had three steals against Bakersfield. Stanley was also second on the team with nine points and has 88 on the year (11.0 ppg), while Cave led the Mavericks with three assists and currently leads the team with 19 steals and 23 assists.
- Elena Pilkouta saw her consecutive double-digit scoring streak end at a career-high seven games after putting up eight against Bakersfield. Regardless, she still leads the team with 115 points (14.4 ppg) and 54 rebounds (6.8 rpg).
- Kennedi Grant was Omaha's top scorer last week with 31 points (15.5 ppg) during their California trip. She also tied her career best with 17 points against Bakersfield and was two rebounds away from her first career double-double. She now has 77 points (9.6 ppg) on the year.
- Jaylen Townsend and Sam Mitchell scored the only two 3-PT FGs for Omaha in Bakersfield as they combined for 17 points. Both of them also had four rebounds, one assist, and one steal.
Scouting the Tigers
The Tigers are currently 9-1 to start their season and have won three games in a row against Saint Louis (82-52), UMass (71-66), and Arizona State (71-60) since losing to Virginia Tech (73-57) in late November. Last year, Mizzou went 18-13 with a 7-9 conference record. They lost to Arkansas in the second round of the SEC Championships, before falling to Drake in the first round of the WNIT.
Senior guard Lauren Hansen and senior forward Hayley Frank are Mizzou's leading scorers with 148 (14.8 ppg) and 146 (14.6 ppg) points, respectively. Hansen is currently shooting a perfect 1.000 on free throws (14-for-14), while Frank is the team leader in 3-PT FG% at .393 (22-for-56). The two have combined for five 20+ point games this season.
Junior guard Sara Rose Smith is the team leader in rebounding with 83 boards (8.3 rpg). She already has three double-doubles this season, most recently against Arizona State with 15 rebounds and 11 points.
Head Coach Robin Pingeton is in her 13th season with Mizzou and 26th overall, compiling a 216-168 record with the Tigers and 551-325 overall. She's led Mizzou to four NCAA Tournament berths, most recently in the 2018-19 season where they fell in the second round to Iowa 68-52.
