Dec 29, 2022

This Week
The Omaha Mavericks are set to take on their final non-conference opponent of the season when they host the St. Lawrence Saints this weekend to close out the 2022 calendar year.

The Teams
The Mavericks are sitting at 8-8-2 (4-5-2 NCHC) after the first half of the regular season. They currently sit in 4th place in the NCHC with 15 points.
St. Lawrence enters this weekend's series with a 8-8-0 (5-3 ECAC) record. The Saints last played on December 9th and 10th, a 2-1 win against Yale and 4-0 victory over Brown. They enter this weekend on a 3-game win streak.

Last Time Out
The Mavericks and Saints met last season on December 31st and January 1st in Canton, New York. They skated to a series split with St. Lawrence taking the first game 2-3 and Omaha answering back with a 5-0 win the following night.

All-Time vs. St. Lawrence

The Mavericks and Saints are set to meet for just the 4th and 5th times this weekend. The all-time series is currently tied at 1-1-1. This will be the first time St. Lawrence has played in Omaha.

Jack Attack
Senior forward Jack Randl is currently tied for second in the NCAA for goals with 15.  Randl has recorded a goal in 10 of the Mavericks 18 games. He has found the back of the net at least once in every series this season except against UMD. He is the first player in program history to score 8 goals in the first 6 games of a season. The previous record of 7 was held by Austin Ortega (15-16) and Brandon Scero (06-07).

Consistency Is Key
Sophomore forward Ty Mueller has recorded points in 14 of the Mavericks 18 games and is currently 2nd on the team in points with 17. Mueller has recorded at least one point in 10 of the Mavericks last 12 games.

Mighty Miller
Junior forward Matt Miller had a four-game goal streak snapped after the Friday night battle against Western Michigan. Miller becomes the 20th player in program history to score goals in four straight games. He joins Jack Randl as the only other Maverick to accomplish that feat this season.

Mighty Miller II
Since returning from missing three games due to injury, Miller has recorded points in six of the eight games he's played. He had a five game point streak snapped in the series finale win over WMU.

Among The Conference Leaders
Nolan Sullivan (.562) Jake Pivonka (.557), sit 6th and 7th respectively in NCHC faceoff win%. Omaha ranks 2nd in the NCHC in faceoff winning percentage at .531 percent.

Seeing Multiples

The Mavericks have had 10 players register multi-point games this season. 1- Tychonick, Lemay, Pennington. 2 - Pivonka. 3 - Berg, Guevin, Mueller, Weiss. 4 - Miller. 7 - Randl.

Veteran Presence
All 14 returning skating letterwinners including grad transfer Jake Pivonka, have registered a point so far this season.

That's a Plus!
Ty Mueller and Jack Randl lead the Mavericks in plus/minus currently with a +9 ranking.
