Ruch Becomes Second Maverick to Earn AVCA All-America Honors

Dec 14, 2022

LEXINGTON, Ky. - McKenna Ruch is now the second Maverick in Division I history to earn an AVCA All-America Honorable Mention after the American Volleyball Coaches Association announced its 41st annual All-America Teams earlier today.

Ruch joins Sadie Limback as the only two Mavericks to earn the honor since Omaha transitioned to Division I in 2011. She is also one of just two Summit League players to earn AVCA All-America recognition this season.

Earlier this month, Ruch already earned AVCA Midwest All-Region honors, as well as being named First Team All-Summit. Her impressive 2022 season saw her emerge as one of the best blockers in the country, reaching 100 total blocks quicker than anyone else in the Summit League and finishing the season with 145 blocks (1.24 blocks/set), including 17 solo blocks. Ruch was also one of the most efficient offensive players in the Summit League, totaling 305 kills and a .341 hitting percentage.
