HOUSTON, Texas – Omaha volleyball fell to Houston, 3-0, on Friday night in the Lonestar State.
The Mavericks (2-2) pushed Houston (5-0) to the brink in each and every set with a score of 27-27 in the first, 25-22 in the second and 25-20 in the third. Omaha was never fully out of it with 24 tie scores and 12 lead changes throughout the night.
Kali Jurgensmeier came close to matching her career-high kills count with 17 through three sets. The senior set her career high with 19 last season against Lindenwood. Jurgensmeier ended the night with a hitting percentage of .412.
Morgan DeBow saw her first solo block of the season in the second set to bring her season count up to four total blocks.
Freshman
Faith Venable tallied six aces to bring her season total to 11. The Lincoln, Neb. native leads the team and saw the most aces of either team during the match.
Omaha ended the night with 38 total kills and a hitting percentage of .222. On the defensive end, the Mavs totaled four blocks with 36 digs.
Grace Fuger led the Mavs with 10.
The Mavericks will play one final match in Houston. They will take on San Diego State at 1 p.m. CT on Saturday. The match will not be livestreamed.
