This Week
The Omaha Mavericks welcome the nation's top scoring offense, the No. 14 Western Michigan Broncos to Baxter Arena for a two-game home series.
The Teams
The Mavericks are sitting at 6-6-2 (2-3-2 NCHC) after a road split over the top ranked Denver Pioneers. Omaha blanked the defending national champions last Friday night, 3-0. The Pioneers responded with a 6-3 win the following night to secure a split with the Mavericks.
Western enters this weekend's series with a 10-6-0 (4-2-0 NCHC) record. The Broncos played just once last weekend and defeated the then No. 18 Northeastern Huskies, 6-4.
Last Time Out
The Mavericks and Broncos met only twice last year in the regular season. They skated to a weekend split with Western taking the series opener 4-2 and Omaha answering with a 1-0 shutout the following night.
All-Time vs. Western Michigan
The Mavericks and Pioneers are set to meet for the 62nd and 63rd times this weekend. Omaha leads the all-time series 31-24-6. When the game is played in Omaha, the Mavericks have a 16-8-2 record over the Broncos.
Jack Attack
Senior forward
Jack Randl is currently tied for the NCAA lead in goals with 13. He is tied with this weekend's opponent, Western Michigan forward Jason Polin. Randl has recorded a goal in 8 of the Mavericks 14 games. He has found the back of the net at least once in every series this season except against UMD. He is the first player in program history to score 8 goals in the first 6 games of a season. The previous record of 7 was held by Austin Ortega (15-16) and Brandon Scero (06-07). 5 of Randl's 13 games have been multi-point games.
Jack Attack II
Randl is the 19th player in Omaha Hockey history to score a goal in four consecutive games. It's the 27th time it has happened in program history. Randl is the third player in school history to score a goal in the first four games of the season. The only other players to score goals in the first four games of the season are Stanley Cup winner Jake Guentzel (2014-15) and Matt Ambroz (2010-11).
Consistency Is Key
Sophomore forward
Ty Mueller has recorded points in 11 of the Mavericks 14 games and is currently 2nd on the team in points with 13. He had a season best 6-game point streak snapped in last Friday's 3-0 win over Denver. That was longest streak for the Mavericks this season.
Mighty Miller
Junior forward
Matt Miller is riding a four-game goal streak currently. He becomes the 20th player in program history to score goals in four straight games. He joins
Jack Randl as the only other Maverick to accomplish that feat this season.
Among The Conference Leaders
Jake Pivonka sits 6th in the NCHC with 143 faceoff wins (.557%) out of 253 draws. Omaha ranks 2nd in the NCHC in faceoff winning percentage at .533 percent.
Challenge Accepted
The Mavericks will play their fourth consecutive nationally ranked opponent this weekend. Omaha has come away with NCHC points in four of their six games against nationally ranked opponents (UND, UMD and DU).
Veteran Presence
There's a First Time For Everything
The Mavericks registered their first ever win against a top ranked Denver Pioneers team last Friday night.
100 Point Club
Graduate forward
Tyler Weiss secured his 100th career point in Maverick Sweater in last Friday's 3-0 victory over Denver. Weiss becomes the 18th player in Maverick history to join the 100 point club and is the 5th active NCAA DI player with 100+ career points.

Tychonick also won his first Defenseman of the Week with a quad-assist performance (assisted on all three goals Friday). Kucharski won his second Goaltender of the Week award this season after a 1-1 weekend with a 2.52 GAA, .911 save%, 51 saves and a shutout on Friday.
Road Warriors
The Mavericks are 5-2-1 on the road this season. They are currently outscoring their opponents 27-18 including 11-3 in the 3rd period alone.

The freshmen defensive pair of Jo Lemay and
