Jake Kucharski all grab Week 9 NCHC honors for their stellar stat lines in a weekend split against top-ranked Denver.
Miller earns his first NCHC Forward of the Week award of his career. He was named NCHC Rookie of the Week (Dec. 7, 2020) his freshman year after the first week of the NCHC Pod. The Leo, Indiana native had three goals, two assists and was +2 last weekend against the Pioneers. The Omaha winger buried the final two goals in Friday's 3-0 shutout victory just 91 seconds apart. His goal on Saturday night pulled the Mavericks within one of the Pioneers after trailing 4-1 earlier in the 2nd period. Miller is currently riding a four-game goal streak for the first time in his career. He becomes the 20th player in program to score goals in four straight games. In 11 games this season, Miller has lit the lamp six times and registered five assists.

Jonny Tychonick also earns his first NCHC weekly award this week being named Defenseman of the Week. Tychonick had four assists on the weekend with a +2 rating. The graduate defenseman assisted on all three goals Friday night and registered the secondary assist on the Mavericks final goal on Saturday, scored by
Matt Miller, 32 seconds into the 3rd period. Tychonick is currently tied with Miller for fourth on the team in points with 11 (2g, 9a).
Jake Kucharski earns his second NCHC Goaltender of the Week award this season after going 1-1 last weekend against Denver. Kucharski blanked the Pioneers on Friday night turning aside all 22 shots he faced. It was Kucharski's first shutout in a Mavericks sweater and fifth of his career. The Carolina Hurricanes draft pick posted a 2.52 GAA, .911 save% and had 51 saves on the weekend. Kucharski is 4-5-2 this season with a GAA of 2.38 and a .920 save%.
Miller, Tychonick, Kucharski and the rest of the Mavericks welcome the No. 14 Western Michigan Broncos to town this weekend for a two-game series.
