Mavericks, Jackrabbits Square Off in Summit League Semifinals

LEADING OFF
Emilie Erland helped the Mavericks advance to the Summit League semifinal with a game-winning goal vs. No. 6 North Dakota Friday night. No. 3 Omaha will face No. 2 South Dakota State in the semifinal match for the third straight season. The Mavericks and Jackrabbits will kickoff Sunday at 3 p.m. in Brookings. 

QUICK KICKS
• The Mavericks downed the Fighting Hawks 1-0 in the Summit League quarterfinal Friday night. Erland scored on a corner kick assisted by Grace Crockett and Sophia Green in the 82nd minute.
• Omaha earned its third straight trip to the Summit League and fifth overall following a 1-1 draw at Kansas City. A 1-0 shutout at Oral Roberts clinched the third seed.
• Green tied the match vs. the Roos, while Marissa Gohr netted her third goal of the season vs. ORU for the game winner.
• Gohr, Green, and Erland lead Omaha with seven points this season.
• Green averaged 2.44 shots per game in conference action, which ranks fourth among the league's players.
• Five Mavericks earned all-league recognition Thursday morning. Regan Zimmers was named first team, while Grace Ostergaard claimed second team honors for the third straight season. Jordyn West is an honorable mention, and Emma Konsmo and Lindsey Birch are newcomer selections.
• It marks Zimmers' second all-league honor, Ostergaard's third, West's second, and Konsmo and Birch's first.
• Last season, the Mavericks earned the No. 3 seed and played No. 2 South Dakota State in the semifinals. In the 2020 season, Omaha advanced to the championship match after downing SDSU in PKs. It marked the second championship appearance for the Mavericks.

SCOUTING THE SOUTH DAKOTA STATE JACKRABBITS
South Dakota State earned the No. 2 seed in the Summit League Tournament for the third straight season after posting a 13-0-5 overall, 7-0-2 league record in the regular season. SDSU is the lone undefeated team remaining in the country. The Jackrabbits won their last seven matches and have draws with Denver and South Dakota in league play.

JACKRABBITS TO WATCH
• Maya Hansen was tabbed the Summit League Offensive Player of the Year. She has 27 points on 11 goals and five assists. More than half her goals came in conference play. She ranks in the NCAA top-20 in goals per game, points per game, total goals, and total points.
• In goal, Jocelyn Tanner earned Summit League Goalkeeper of the Year honors for the second straight season. She only gave up one goal in league action this season and put together a .917 save percentage with a 5-0-1 record.

SERIES HISTORY
SDSU leads the all-time series 8-7-4. The Jackrabbits won 3-0 earlier this season against the Mavericks.
