The Omaha women's basketball team is set to take on the North Dakota Fighting Hawks in Grand Forks, North Dakota on Thursday Jan. 6 with tip-off set for 7 p.m. They will then head to Fargo, North Dakota to take on the North Dakota State Bison on Saturday Jan. 8 with tip-off scheduled for 1 p.m.

Quick Hits
• The Mavericks dropped their last contest at home to Oral Roberts 50-45. Josie Filer had a career-night on the glass against the Golden Eagles, hauling in a career-best 16 rebounds including five on the offensive end to go along with her team-best 14 points. It was also the fifth double-double of her career.
• Elena Pilakouta joined Filer in double digits against Oral Roberts with 10 points. It was the third straight game in which she reached double digits and sixth of the season. She is currently fifth in the summit league in field goal percentage with a .526 rate.
• The previously scheduled contest against Kansas City for Dec. 30 was postponed due to COVID protocols, and has been rescheduled for Monday, January 10 at Baxter Arena.
• Alexis Pratt recorded a career-best 10 points against Western Illinois on Dec. 22 to go along with her career-high seven assists - the most a Maverick has recorded in a game this season.
• Seniors Josie Filer and Sophie Johnston made their season debut's against St. Thomas on Dec. 20 after missing the first nine games due to injury. Filer scored nine points and hauled in 10 rebounds against Western Illinois on Dec. 22 in 27 minutes of action.
• Omaha was tabbed eighth in the Summit League Preseason Poll. The Mavericks finished last season 7-13 overall with a 4-8 league finish. They earned the eighth seed in the Summit League Tournament last spring and advanced to the Championship game before falling to South Dakota.
Scouting the North Dakota Fighting Hawks
• The Fighting Hawks are coming off a South Dakota road trip falling to South Dakota 85-46 on Dec. 30 and South Dakota State 72-54 on Jan. 1. They are led in scoring by junior Kacie Borowicz who is averaging 16.4 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.8 assists per contest. Olivia Lane and Claire Orth also average double-digit scoring totals with 11.6 and 11.5 points-per-game respectively. The Fighting Hawks have one common opponent so far this season in Weber State, who they fell to in their season opener 72-57 in Ogden, Utah.
• Head coach Mallory Bernhard is in her second season in charge of the Fighting Hawks, she is 8-27 in her head coaching career.
All-Time Against North Dakota
North Dakota leads the all-time series between the two teams 50-10. The Mavericks won both matchups in the 2020-21 season winning 73-61 on Feb. 19 and 75-72 the next day, both at Baxter Arena.
Scouting the North Dakota State Bison
• North Dakota State is coming off a trip to South Dakota falling 77-60 at South Dakota State on Dec. 30 and at South Dakota 65-38 on Jan. 1. They are led by Ryan Cobbins and Heaven Hamling who average 12.9 and 12.6 points-per-game respectively.
• Head coach Jory Collins is in his third season in charge of the Bison. Collins is 31-34 at North Dakota State and 230-92 in his career.
All-Time Against North Dakota State
North Dakota State leads the all-time series between the two teams 48-17. The Bison won both matchups in the 2020-21 season winning 62-53 on Jan. 8 and 66-55 the next day, both in Fargo, North Dakota.
