Omaha Travels to Face Oral Roberts and Kansas City

The Omaha women's basketball team is set to hit the road to Tulsa, OK. Thursday to take on the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles at 7 p.m. before heading to Kansas City, MO. Saturday to face the Kansas City Roos at 2 p.m.

Quick Hits

• The Mavericks are coming off a 71-62 loss to Denver, Elena Pilakouta led Omaha with 12 points off the bench while Mariah Murdie chipped in 10.

Alexis Pratt led the Mavericks on the boards with five and dished out a team-best four assists against the Pioneers.

• Three different players scored in double digits in the 68-45 loss to South Dakota Jan. 15, Murdie and Grace Cave each scored 12, while Josie Filer chipped in 10.

• The Senior forward duo, Filer and Murdie, led the Mavericks on the boards against both South Dakota State and South Dakota. They both hauled in eight rebounds against the Jackrabbits and seven against the Coyotes. Murdie also blocked four shots against South Dakota, she's now blocked at least three shots in two of her last three games.

• Filer hauled in 10 rebounds against the Roos on Monday Jan. 10, she's recorded double-digit rebounding efforts in three of her six games this season and eclipsed 500 career rebounds against Kansas City.

• Murdie also reached 500 career rebounds against the Roos, she's currently sixth in The Summit League in rebounding and fifth in blocks.

• Omaha was tabbed eighth in the Summit League Preseason Poll. The Mavericks finished last season 7-13 overall with a 4-8 league finish. They earned the eighth seed in the Summit League Tournament last spring and  advanced to the Championship game before falling to South Dakota.


Scouting the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles

• The Golden Eagles are coming off a 74-70 loss to North Dakota State pushing their record to 9-10 on the season. They are led in scoring by freshman Tirzah Moore who is averaging 13.0 points-per-game to go along with her 5.7 rebounds-per-game.

• Head coach Misti Cussen is in her tenth season in charge of the Golden Eagles. Cussen is 139-147 in her time at the helm.


All-Time Against Oral Roberts

Oral Roberts leads the all-time series 10-3. The Golden Eagles won the last matchup 50-45 on Jan. 1, 2022 in Omaha, NE. Josie Filer recorded a double double in that matchup with 14 points and 16 rebounds.


Scouting the Kansas CIty Roos

• Kansas City is 13-5 on the season and moved to 3-4 in the Summit League with a 78-66 loss at North Dakota Saturday. They are led in scoring by Naomie Alnatas who is averaging 18.1 points-per-game. Brooklyn McDavid also averages double digits with 16.4 points-per-contest.

• Head coach Jaycie Hoyt is in her fifth season in charge of the Roos compiling a 71-61 record.


All-Time Against Kansas City

The all-time series between the two teams is tied at six games apeice. Kansas City won 73-64 on Jan. 10, 2022 in Omaha, NE in the last matchup between the two teams earlier this season. Mariah Murdie scored a career-high 25 points in that loss.
