Omaha Falls Twice on Friday in Fargo

FARGO, N.D. - The Omaha baseball team suffered a pair of losses in a doubleheader at North Dakota State on Friday at Newman Outdoor Field in Fargo, N.D. The Mavericks suffered an 8-7 setback in game one before falling 2-0 in the nightcap.
 
The losses drop the Mavericks to 18-18 (10-7 Summit League) on the season while the Bison improve to 31-13 (16-9).
 
Game One: NDSU 8, Omaha 7
How it Happened
  • Harrison Denk opened the game with a single before coming around to score on Mike Boeve's RBI single to left center to give the Mavericks the early lead.
  • The Bison tied the game back up in the bottom of the second off one hit and a Maverick error to plate an unearned run.
  • Boeve reached with a double in the third and scored on Chris Esposito's RBI single down the left field line.
  • Parker Smejkal followed Esposito with an RBI double down the left field line to expand the lead to 3-1.
  • Following a groundout, Eduardo Rosario ripped an RBI double to left center, scoring Smejkal and stretching the Maverick lead to 4-1 in the third.
  • Omaha scored its fifth run of the game in the top of the fourth when Masen Prososki touched home on Boeve's RBI single.
  • NDSU got the run back in the bottom of the fourth off an RBI single to make it a 5-2 game.
  • The Mavericks tacked on two more runs with an RBI single by Brett Bonar and a sacrifce fly from Denk to snag a 7-4 advantage.
  • The Bison responded with four runs on four hits and a Maverick error to take the late 8-7 lead in the bottom of the eighth and hold on for the game one victory.
