OMAHA, Neb. -- The Omaha women's tennis team faced its first nationally-ranked opponent of the season Saturday morning, falling 7-0 to No. 41 Denver at Koch Tennis Center.
DU swept all three doubles matches to earn the doubles point. The Pioneers halted Omaha 6-1 at No. 1 by the 12th-ranked pair of Julia O'Laughlin and Maureen Slattery, as well as 6-3 at No. 2 and 6-3 at No. 3.
DU then swept all six singles matches to put it away. Junior
Michelle Lo lost a split-set match at No. 1 to O'Loughlin, winning the first set 6-3 before O'Loughlin took sets two and three, 6-4 and 10-3.
The loss drops the Mavericks to 6-14 (2-3 Summit League) on the season, while the Pioneers improve to 13-6 (4-0).
Omaha returns to action on Wednesday, April 19, welcoming South Dakota to Koch Tennis Center for league action. First serve is slated for 3 p.m.
