DES MOINES, Iowa - The Omaha women's tennis team dropped a 4-0 decision to Iowa State on Friday afternoon at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center. Omaha moves to 2-3 (0-0 Summit League) on the year, while the Cyclones improve to 4-2.
Omaha dropped the doubles point to give Iowa State a 1-0 lead early in the match. The pair of junior Michelle Lo and sophomore Janelle Wilson suffered their first loss of the season, falling 6-4 to Samantha Budai and Maty Cancini.
The Cyclones took four of the six singles matches to claim the 4-0 victory. Freshmen Emily Behling at the No. 3 spot, fell to Regina Espindola, 6-3, 6-3, for the closest match of the day.
“This is not the result we wanted but we never gave up throughout the match,” head coach Adam Summit said. “The ladies played tough today and that's all I can ask of them. This was great experience for the team as we move forward.”
Omaha continues action in Des Moines, Iowa on Saturday, Feb. 11, facing Drake at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center at 11 a.m.
