Box Score OMAHA, Neb. -- The Omaha baseball team capped its series with South Dakota State Sunday afternoon, picking up a 10-9 win at Millard North High School. With the victory, the Mavericks improved to 19-20 (10-8 Summit League), while the Jackrabbits dropped to 15-24 (10-8 Summit League).
Junior right-hander
Shane Meltz (1-2) earned his first win of the season, throwing 5.2 innings in his start. The Thornton, Colo., native allowed six runs on nine hits and three walks while striking out six. Greg Casper (0-2) took the loss for SDSU, giving up four runs -- three earned -- on four hits and a walk with one strikeout over 1.2 innings. Sophomore right-hander
Corey Binger achieved his first save of the year, keeping the Jacks to one hit and a walk with one strikeout in the final inning.
Senior
Cole Gruber led the Mavericks at the plate, finishing 2-for-5 with two runs scored, two RBI and two stolen bases.

Ryan Cate (2-for-4, two runs) and
Adam Caniglia (2-for-4, two runs, one RBI), senior
Clayton Taylor (2-for-3, two RBI) and freshman
Riley Herold (2-for-4, one run, one RBI) also had multi-hit efforts. As a team, Omaha finished with 11 hits for its 20th double-digit hit performance of the season.
Anthony Schneider paced South Dakota State offensively, going 4-for-5 with a home run, two runs scored and an RBI.
