Setting the Scene
The Omaha women's basketball team wraps up a three-game homestand on Thursday, Feb. 11 against Fort Wayne. Tipoff from Baxter Arena is set for 7 p.m. Thursday's game will be the Mavericks' “Pink Game” for Breast Cancer Awareness. Live webcast, as well as live audio and live stats, will be available at OMavs.com. The game will be aired on 1180 Zone 2 with Jon Green calling the action.
The Teams
The Mavericks are 11-12 overall and 4-7 in the Summit League after suffering losses at home to South Dakota State and South Dakota last week. Junior guard Mikaela Shaw leads the league in scoring at 18.2 points per game. Shaw is second in the league in rebounding (8.3 rebounds per game) and field goal percentage (52.1 percent). Remy Davenport adds 10.3 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. Caroline Hogue is averaging 8.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.8 blocked shots per game, which is 22nd in the nation and leads the Summit.
Fort Wayne is 5-18 overall and 1-9 in league play. The Mastodons are coming off a last second loss at Western Illinois last Thursday. IPFW has the fifth leading scorer in the league Kamilah Carter, who is putting up 16.0 points per game, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game. Her back court partner Rachel Rinehart averages 7.7 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. Freshman Josie Fisher adds 10.9 points and 2.1 assists per game off the bench. The Mastodons lead the league in Free throws made (13.0) and attempted (18.7) per game. They are also second in steals averaging 10.0 per game.
Series History
Omaha trails the all-time series with Fort Wayne, 4-3. The Mavericks have won the last two meetings, including a 60-58 thriller earlier this season in Fort Wayne.
Earlier this season, Mikaela Shaw had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Mavericks, but an Ellie Brecht jumper with three seconds left in regulation was the difference. Abi Lujan added 10 points, while Brecht and Caroline Hogue each had eight points. IPFW was led by Keanna Gary's 16 points. De'Jour Young added 12 points.

- Mikaela Shaw's 18.2 points per game ranks first in the Summit League, and her 8.3 rebounds per game and 52.1 field goal percentage are second in the league. The junior from Deweese, Neb., has eight 20-point games this year and has led Omaha in scoring 16 times. She has scored in double figures every game this season and 24 straight games dating back to last season.
- Caroline Hogue leads the league with 2.8 blocked shots per game and ranks 15th nationally. The freshman has broken into the top 10 in single season blocked shots with 65 and is eighth all-time.
- Ellie Brecht leads the Summit League with a 42.7 three-point field goal percentage. Remy Davenport is fifth in the league with a 39.7 three-point field goal percentage.
