OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha women's basketball team welcomes Summit League leader South Dakota on Sunday, Feb. 7. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. at Baxter Arena.
OPENING TIP OVERVIEW
Omaha is 0-1 this week with a loss on Thursday evening against South Dakota State. Mikaela Shaw and Abi Lujan were in double-figures for the Mavericks. UNO is 11-11 overall and 4-6 in Summit League play.
Summit League leaders South Dakota play at Denver on Friday evening, before traveling to Omaha. Entering the weekend, Coyotes lead the Summit League with an 8-1 record and are 17-5 overall.

THE OMAHA STORY
Omaha enters Sunday's action with an 11-11 mark and a 4-6 record in Summit League play. The Mavericks are led this season by Mikaela Shaw. Shaw leads the Summit League in scoring with 18.5 points per game and is second in the league with 8.3 rebounds per game. Shaw also is the team-leader in assists (3.2 apg) and steals (1.3 spg).
Remy Davenport is second on the team in scoring averaging 10.2 points per game. The sophomore also averages 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. Caroline Hogue averages 8.3 points per game and 4.3 rebounds per game. The freshman is the Summit League leader in blocked shots with 57 and is rated nationally in the category.
Omaha is led by third year head coach, Brittany Lange.
About South Dakota
South Dakota is led by 4th year head coach Amy Williams. USD has won seven straight and are 8-1 in the Summit with senior guards Nicole Seekamp (19.6), Kelly Stewart (11.1), and Tia Hemiller (10.0) each averaging in double-figures in league play. The Coyotes are tied with South Dakota State for the lead in the Summit League.
Seekamp is the only player in the nation averaging 16 points, six assists, and three steals per game. She ranks 11th in steals per game (3.15) and 10th in assists per game (6.6). She's also 12th for free-throw percentage (88.2%).
The Coyotes have the 12th-best scoring offense in the nation at 80.1 points per game. South Dakota maintains a 12-point scoring margin over opponents. USD has 398 assists this season and ranks sixth in the nation. South Dakota also crashes the boards hard as the Coyotes outrebound opponents an average 9.5 boards per game, a rebounding margin that ranks 15th nationally.
The Omaha-South Dakota History
The series history between Omaha and South Dakota is one of the longest running in program history. The Coyotes lead the all-time series 39-34. Since the transition to Division I, USD is 7-1 against UNO. The lone Maverick victory in the Division I era came at Sapp Field House on Feb. 20, 2014, 69-61.
UNO fell at the Dakota Dome earlier this season to USD, 82-76. Caroline Hogue had a career-best 25 points, eight rebounds and 4 blocked shots. Mikaela Shaw added 24 points and five boards. USD's Nicole Seekamp had a game-high 26 points to lead three Coyotes in double-figures.
