OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha women's basketball team returns home to start a three-game homestand starting with South Dakota State on Thursday, Feb. 4. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. at Baxter Arena.
OPENING TIP OVERVIEW
Last week, Omaha went 1-1 in a pair of Summit League road contests. The Mavs used a last second shot from freshman Ellie Brecht to defeat Fort Wayne 60-58. Then on Saturday afternoon, UNO dropped a 74-55 decision at Western Illinois. The Mavericks are 11-10 overall this season and are in sixth place in the league standings with a 4-5 mark.
South Dakota State defeated Oral Roberts on Wednesday evening, 68-50. The Jackrabbits are 17-4 overall and 7-1 in conference action. They trail South Dakota by a half game for first place.

THE OMAHA STORY
The Mavericks are 11-10 overall with a 4-5 mark in the Summit League after a 74-55 loss at Western Illinois on Saturday. Last week, Mikaela Shaw averaged a double-double in the two games. Shaw leads Omaha in almost every offensive category. The junior guard averages 18.6 points and 8.4 rebounds per game. Shaw leads the Summit league in scoring and is second in rebounding. She is also second in the league with a 54 percent field goal percentage.
Remy Davenport averages 10.6 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game. The sophomore ranks sixth in the conference with a 39.3 3-point field goal percentage. Ellie Brecht leads the conference in that category connecting on 43.4 percent of her shots from behind the arc. Caroline Hogue leads the league in blocked shots (58) and blocks per game (2.8).
About South Dakota State
SDSU enters Thursday's contest 17-4 overall and 7-1 in the Summit League standings. The Jackrabbits are in second place only a half-game behind South Dakota. They have won eight of the last nine games with the only set back coming against South Dakota, 63-58.
South Dakota State is led by 17th year head coach Aaron Johnston. Macy Miller is SDSU's leading scorer at 16 points per game. She ranks fifth overall and seventh in Summit League-only games (15.1). She is also the Jackrabbits second-leading playmaker (2.7 apg). Kerri Young is the other SDSU player averaging in double digits averaging 10.9 points per game and leads the team in assists (2.8 apg). Clarissa Ober grabs a team-leading 7.7 rebounds per game. Ober is also the team leader in blocks (40, 2.1 bpg).
SDSU averages 69 points per game and gives up 59.9. The Jackrabbits are shooting 40.9 percent from the field, 34.7 percent from 3-point range and 72 percent from the free-throw line.
The Omaha-South Dakota State History
The series history between Omaha and South Dakota State is one of the longest running in program history. The Jackrabbits lead the all-time series 35-31. Since the transition to Division I, SDSU has won all seven meetings.
Omaha fell to South Dakota earlier this season in Brookings at Frost Arena, 68-58. Mikaela Shaw had a team high 21 points and nine rebounds. Caroline Hogue added 13 points and nine boards. SDSU's Madison Guebert had 23 points, while Clarissa Ober had 12 points.
