OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha women's tennis team visited crosstown rival Creighton on Wednesday, falling Creighton 5-2 at Hanscom Park Tennis Center. Omaha is now 4-4 on the season, while Creighton improves to 2-3.

The Mavericks started the match strong, earning the doubles points with wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions. The No. 1 team of sophomore Michelle Lo and junior Hylan Miller defeated Ashley Ishimura and Darby Rosette, 6-1, improving to a perfect 4-0 as a pair this season. At No. 3, senior Molly Matricardi and junior Kenzie Hill upended Katherine Nelsen and Karlin Naslund, 6-2, raising their record to 2-1 as partners. At the No. 2 slot, freshmen Janelle Wilson and Kylie Boyer lost to Claire Embree and Sam Anderson, 7-5.

Miller picked up Omaha's lone singles win for the afternoon, improving her record to 4-1. She defeated Nelsen in No. 2 action by a score of 6-4, 6-1.

Matricardi and Lo lost in two hard-fought, three-set matches. Embree took the No. 4 match against Matricardi, 6-1, 3-6, 6-2, while Lo withdrew in the third set of her No. 1 matchup against Ishimura, who held a 4-6, 7-5, 3-0 lead.

Boyer fell in No. 3 singles action, 6-3, 6-0, to Rosette, while Wilson lost to Anderson at No. 5 by a score of 6-2, 6-1. Hill suffered a hard luck loss to Naslund at No. 6, who won the match 7-5, 6-4.

Omaha returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 27, opening Summit League play with a home contest against Oral Roberts. The match is set for 9 a.m. at Miracle Hill Golf and Tennis Center.
