Mavericks Clash with Oral Roberts on Thursday

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha women's basketball team wraps up a two-game homestand on Thursday, Jan. 21 as Oral Roberts visits Baxter Arena.  Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.  Jon Green will have the radio call on The Mighty 1290, and links to live stats, audio and video will be available on OMavs.com.

The Mavericks overcame a slow start on Sunday for a 12-point victory over Denver, 67-55.  The Golden Eagles are one of the hottest teams in the Summit League and enter Thursday night's contest on a four-game winning streak.

  • Omaha is 10-8 overall and 3-3 in Summit League play.  At the moment, the Mavs are in sixth place in the league standings.
  • The Mavericks are 8-2 inside the friendly confines of Baxter Arena this season, including a 3-0 mark in conference play.
  • Sophomore Remy Davenport went 10-of-15 from 3-point distance on Sunday against Denver.  Davenport set a school record for makes and attempts from distance.  She is also tied for the most made trey's in a single game in NCAA Division I this season.
  • Davenport is averaging 11.1 points per game this season.  She is also averaging 3.4 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 0.7 blocks per game.
  • Junior Mikaela Shaw leads the Mavericks in almost every statistical category this season.  Shaw is averaging 18.6 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 1.3 steals per game.
  • Shaw leads the Summit League in points per game, total points (334), and field goals (133-of-247).
  • Freshman Caroline Hogue leads the league in blocked shots (48) and blocks per game (2.7).
  • Sophomore Vanessa Barajas is fourth in the league in blocked shots (26) and blocks per game (2.7).
  • Freshman Amber Vidal is currently tied for seventh in assists per game (2.9 apg).

Observing Oral Roberts

  • Oral Roberts enters Thursday's game with a 7-10 overall record and a 4-1 mark in Summit League play.
  • The Golden Eagles have won four straight conference games after dropping their opener.  During their streak, ORU has stopped South Dakota and Fort Wayne at home, while defeating IUPUI and North Dakota State on the road.
  • The Golden Eagles have been one of the best defensive teams in The Summit League this season. Holding teams to just 55.2 points per game and leading the league in defensive field goal percentage at 33.6 percent.
  • ORU is second in The Summit League in defensive three-point field goal percentage at 27.5 percent. It ranks ORU in the top 25 nationally as well at 24.
  • Sophomores Kaylan Mayberry and Bria Pitts have been the offensive leaders for ORU during conference play. Mayberry is averaging 14.0 ppg, 3.8 rpg, and 2.8 apg in league play, while Pitts is averaging 10.0 ppg and 3.0 rpg.

 Omaha-Oral Roberts Series History

This will be the fifth all-time meeting between Omaha and Denver.  The Mavericks trail the all-time series, 3-1.  Oral Roberts swept the series last season with a 74-53 win in Tulsa and a 66-52 victory in Omaha.
