OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha softball team dropped the series finale to North Dakota State on Sunday afternoon, 5-1. Omaha moved to 16-15 overall and 4-2 in Summit League play. North Dakota State improved to 25-6 overall and 5-1 in league play.
UNO struggled offensively with just three hits off Bison ace Krista Menke. Megan May scored the only run with a solo homerun to right center field in the seventh inning. Menke went the distance, allowing one run on three hits with three walks and 10 strikeouts.
North Dakota State scored three times in the top of the third inning off of Omaha starter Jaylee Hinrichs (7-5). Logan Moreland was 3-for-4 with an RBI, and Alyssa Reina was 2-for-4 with a double, a homerun, and an RBI. Alex Sobrero was 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored for the Bison.
Hinrichs pitched 2.1 innings allowing three earned runs on five hits. Kat Barrow finished the game for Omaha by pitching 4.2 innings allowing two unearned runs on seven hits with four strikeouts.
Lia Mancuso and Kelly Pattison each were 1-for-3 at the plate for Omaha. Pattison also had a stolen base for the Mavericks.
Omaha hits the road for a five-game road trip starting with a non-conference doubleheader in Wichita, Kan. against Wichita State on Tuesday, March 31 starting at 3:00 p.m. Links to live stats will be available on OMavs.com.
