OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha softball team welcomes Fort Wayne to Westside Field at Westbrook for a three-game series this weekend, March 21-22. The Mavericks and Mastodons will play a double header on Saturday, March 21 with games starting at Noon and 2:00 p.m. Sunday's single game has an 11:00 a.m. start time, and links to live stats will be available on OMavs.com.
Leading Off for Omaha
- Jaylee Hinrichs (5-4) threw a one-hitter against Northern Colorado on March 17. Hinrichs walked one batter and had five strikeouts in the victory.
- Campbell Ditto hit a walk-off, two run home run to propel the Mavericks to a 4-2 win over Northern Colorado in game one of the March 17 double header. She leads the team with six homeruns.
- Kat Barrow (5-4) pitched eight innings to pick up the win by allowing two earned runs on six hits with eight strikeouts.
- The Mavericks have won four games this season via the run rule.
- Tonya Peterson is leading Omaha with a .313 batting average and 19 RBIs. Peterson also has five doubles and three home runs.
- Peterson has currently reached base in 12 straight games, which leads the team.
- Lia Mancuso is second on the team with a .309 average. Mancuso owns the longest hitting streak on the team this year at seven games. Currently, she is working on a three-game streak.
- Allie Mathewson is 10 for 11 in stolen base attempts. Mathewson has a .293 average with five home runs and 14 RBIs from the lead-off position.
The Series
Omaha and Fort Wayne have met only three times in the history of both programs. The Mastodons lead the series 2-1 heading into this weekend's series.
A Look at IPFW
Fort Wayne enters this weekend's series with a 0-20 overall record. The Mastodons dropped a double header to Ball State on Wednesday, 8-2and 19-4. Last weekend, IPFW competed in the Hoosier Classic in Bloomington, Ind. where the team went 0-3 against Wright State, Bowling Green and Indiana.
The Mastodons leading batter, Avery Nelson, has an average of .282 and has recorded five RBI. Defensively, Morghyn Neal has 67 putouts and a fielding average of .946.
In the circle, Kaitlyn Biere owns a 0-9 record with an 8.53 ERA and 26 strikeouts through 15 appearances.
Germaine Fairchild is in her first season at the helm of the Fort Wayne softball program. Fairchild has a career mark of 293-377-1 after coaching 13 years at Quinnipiac.

Omaha welcomes three-time Summit League regular season champions, North Dakota State, to Westside Field at Westbrook next weekend. The Bison will play a double header against the Mavericks on Saturday, March 28 at noon and 2:00 p.m. and a single game on Sunday at 11:00 a.m.
