Bradley Downs Mavericks at Home

OMAHA, Neb. -- The Omaha women's tennis team returned to action Friday afternoon, falling 7-0 to Bradley at Miracle Hill Golf & Tennis Center. The Mavericks are now 3-7 (1-2 Summit League) on the year, while the Braves improve to 7-3 (0-0 MVC).

Omaha was victorious in one of the doubles matches, but Bradley ultimately escaped with the doubles point. At No. 1, the duo of freshman Michelle Lo and senior Jacqueline Baude took down BU pair Alexa Brandt and Ashley Thai by a score of 6-2. Bradley rallied, however, winning the Nos. 2 and 3 matches.

The Braves took the momentum into singles play, seizing all six matchups. At No. 1, Lo was defeated by Brandt, 7-6(1), 7-6 (4). Two other singles matches went three sets, with junior Molly Matricardi falling at the No. 3 position, 2-6, 6-1, 0-3, to Manfredo. In the No. 6 slot, sophomore Allison Johnson battled with Cassina Wojtalik but was defeated 3-6, 6-4, 10-8.

Omaha closes out its three-match homestand on Saturday, Feb. 28, hosting non-conference foe Missouri State. The match is set for an 8 a.m. start at Miracle Hill Golf and Tennis Center.
