OMAHA, Neb. – After a weekend off, the Omaha softball team travels to the Sunshine State to compete in the Diamond 9 Citrus Classic II, which is being held at ESPN's Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla.
Omaha holds a 5-4 mark on the season and is riding a three-game winning streak after defeating Delaware State, North Carolina Central and Virginia at the Eagle Challenge in Apex, North Carolina two weeks ago.
The Mavs will play five games in three days at ESPN's Softball Complex, starting with a pair of games on Friday, Feb. 27 against Lehigh (10:00 a.m.) and Georgetown (12:15 p.m.). Then they take on Penn State (10:00 a.m.) and Minnesota (2:30 p.m.) on Saturday before wrapping up the weekend with a 9:00 a.m. tilt with Georgia on Sunday, March 1.

A Look at Lehigh
Lehigh opens its 2015 campaign against Omaha on Friday, Feb. 27. Last year, the Mountain Hawks finished the season with a 30-20 overall record and a 15-3 Patriot League mark. Lehigh extended its streak of consecutive 30-win seasons to 14 and won the Patriot League regular season crown.
The Mountain Hawks return senior Emily Bausher, last year's Patriot League Pitcher of the Year, and junior Morgan Decker, the two-time Patriot League Player of the Year. Lehigh will return last year's Defensive Player of the Year in junior Alexis Watanabe and all seven players who earned All-Patriot League honors from last season.
Head coach Fran Troyan is in his 20th season with the Mountain Hawks and has an overall record of 645-348-6.
Previewing Georgetown
Georgetown is 5-3 on the season after competing in the Belmont Invitational and the UNC Wilmington Invitational. So far on the season, Grace Appelbe leads the Hoyas with a .370 average with two homeruns. Megan Hyson owns a 0.86 ERA in 32.2 innings pitched with 42 strikeouts.
Georgetown head coach Pat Conlan is in her 10th season and has a 156-292 record with the Hoyas.
Scouting Penn State
Penn State stands at 6-7 on the season and is trying to snap a four game losing skid after dropping the final contest of the Aggie Classic to Eastern Michigan (Feb. 15) and then three at Mississippi State last weekend.
Kristina Brackpool leads the team in a number of offensive categories, including hits (12), RBI (11) and is tied for first with three homeruns, she also owns a .353 batting average. Pitcher Marlaina Lauback has a 2.86 ERA in 22.0 innings pitched.
The Nittany Lions are led by second year head coach Amanda Lehotak. A native of Omaha, Neb., Lehotak played collegiately at the University of Mississippi for two seasons (2000-01) before finishing her career at Omaha (2002-03). She was a third team All-American at UNO with a pair of first team All-North Central Conference selections. Lehotak earned her bachelor's degree in family science from UNO in 2003.
Looking at #11/13 Minnesota
The Minnesota softball team improved to 13-1 on the season after going 5-0 at the Diamond Devil Invitational last weekend in Tempe, Ariz. The Golden Gophers defeated New Mexico State, Boise State twice, host Arizona State and Colorado State.
Hannah Granger has hit for a .525 batting average with a team-best .604 on-base percentage. Granger enters the weekend with a season-opening 14-game hitting streak. Through nine games, six Gophers have reached double digits in runs batted in: Granger, Kaitlyn Richardson, Tyler Walker, Sara Groenewegen, Sydney Fabian and Danielle Parlich. Sara Groenewegen, the reigning Big Ten Pitcher of the Year, has 83 strikeouts in 49 innings (11.9 strikeouts per seven innings) this season.
Jessica Allister is in her fifth season at the helm of the Golden Gopher softball program and owns a career record of 155-78.
What Makes Up #8/8 Georgia
Georgia enters the weekend with an overall record of 12-2 and for the second-straight week, UGA has remained a member of the top-10 in both major polls. The Bulldogs check in at No. 8 in both the NFCA and USA Softball polls.
Cortni Emanuel is 27-for-45 for a .600 batting average this season to lead the Bulldogs. Emanuel has stolen 21 bases on 22 attempts. Last season, Alex Hugo was a First Team NFCA All-American and led the nation with 25 homeruns. Hugo is batting .512 this year with a team-high five homers and 25 RBI. In the circle, Chelsea Wilkinson is 8-2 on the season has pitched 59.1 innings with a 1.77 ERA.
Lu Harris-Champer is entering her 15th season as the head coach of the Georgia softball team and holds a 699-238 record.
