OMAHA, Neb. - The Omaha women's basketball team welcomes the South Dakota State Jackrabbits to Sapp Fieldhouse on Wednesday, Feb. 18.  Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.  Links to live stats, audio and video will be available on OMavs.com.

The Teams

Omaha (8-17, 3-10 Summit League) beat North Dakota State on Saturday, Feb. 14, 73-65.  Mikaela Shaw had a career best 38 points in the victory.

South Dakota State (17-8, 8-4 Summit League) won against Oral Roberts on Friday, Feb. 13, 66-52.  Mariah Clarin led SDSU with 14 points and eight rebounds.

Scouting the Jackrabbits

South Dakota State (17-8, 8-4 Summit League) had a 66-52 triumph over Oral Roberts on Friday evening.  Freshman Macy Miller led the Jackrabbits with a team-high 18 points and 3 assists. Senior Mariah Clarin recorded 14 points, eight rebounds, two steals, and had four blocked shots.  Senior Megan Waytashek chipped in 10 points and seven rebounds.  As a team, SDSU shot 45.5 percent from the field and went 12-12 from the charity stripe.

Miller and Waytashek lead the Jackrabbits in points per game (13.8).  Clarin averages 7.2 rebounds per game which leads South Dakota State.  Miller also leads in assists per game (2.7) and in field goal percentage (.515).  

SDSU averages 72.9 points per game and 39.8 rebounds per game.  As a team, South Dakota State shoots 43.7 percent from the field (631-of-1,445) and .375 from long range (159-of-424).  The Jackrabbits average 4.2 blocks and 6.7 steals per game.

Aaron Johnston is in his 15th year as head coach for the South Dakota State Jackrabbits.  His overall record is 358-125 making him the winningest coach in South Dakota State women's basketball history.

  • Omaha defeated North Dakota State in a 73-65 decision in Fargo, N.D.
  • Sophomore Mikaela Shaw recorded a career-high 38 points and grabbed a team-high nine rebounds earning her the Summit League Player of the Week award.
  • Shaw's scoring effort was the third highest in program history.
  • Freshman Remy Davenport contributed 15 points and six rebounds.
  • Senior Taijhe Kelly recorded four blocks in the game and had six points.  Kelly is now two blocks away from setting the school career record in blocks.
  • Sophomore Madi Robson dished out 10 assists and had one steal against NDSU.  It was the first time this season Robson has had double digit assists.
  • UNO shot .457 from the field and went 10-12 (.833) from the free throw line.
  • The Mavericks dropped a 69-83 decision Thursday night against South Dakota in Vermillion. 
  • Kelly recorded a season-high 20 points and had three blocks on the night.  She also grabbed four rebounds.
  • Shaw added 18 points and five rebounds, while Davenport chipped in 15 points in the contest.
  • Robson had nine points, eight assists, and four rebounds.
  • As a team, the Mavs shot .520 (26-50) from the field and .722 (13-18) from the charity stripe.
  • Shaw leads the Mavericks in scoring and rebounding this season. She averages 15.3 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.
  • Davenport and junior Brianna Bogard each average 9.2 points per game.
  • Robson leads the team in assists (96) and Lanese Bough leads in steals (45). Bough is also second on the team in rebounds (131).
  • Shaw has scored in double-digits 15 times this season, which is the most on the team. She has had five double-doubles this season as well.
  • Kelly leads the team with 76 blocked shots. She has blocked four or more shots in a game 10 times this season.

The Series

Omaha and South Dakota State are meeting for the 65th time in series history. Omaha trails the all-time series, 33-31.  The Jackrabbits defeated the Mavericks in Brookings on Jan. 15, 101-66.
