Maverick Men's Tennis Signs Two for 2014-15

OMAHA, Neb. - The Omaha men's tennis program has announced the signing of Marko Minic and Ignace Warson for the 2014-15 season.

Minic is a native of Belgrade, Serbia, while Warson comes to UNO from Maasmechelen, Belgium.

Assistant coach Tyson Thomas said Minic and Warson should have an immediate impact on the program this fall.

"We are searching for players not only with solid games, but with the character and work ethic to help take our program to the next level. After an extensive search, I am confident that both Ignace and Marko fit this profile," Thomas said.

“We have very specific short and long-term goals and after discussing them in length with Ignace and Marko they were both excited about putting the work in to make these goals a reality

“UNO men's tennis is a young and emerging program. We have incredible support from our administration and are very optimistic about our future.”

The Maverick men return a majority of their roster from last season and welcome the return of redshirt sophomore John Ellis, who studied abroad last season after playing in the No. 2 singles spot as a true freshman.

Senior Tyler Mercier returns after posting a 6-8 No. 1 singles record after joining the lineup mid-season after an injury. Erik Anderson (team-leading eight singles wins) and James McManus (seven singles wins) will also be back to lead the Mavs this season.
