WATERLOO, Iowa -- The Omaha women's tennis team played its third opponent from the state of Iowa this season on Saturday, falling 7-0 at Northern Iowa. With the loss, the Mavericks drops to 1-4 (0-0 Summit League), while the Panthers improve to 5-4 (0-0 MVC).

The Mavs put up good competition in doubles, but lost all three matches and the doubles point. At No. 1, senior Alex Tran and junior Jacqueline Baude lost 8-5 to the duo of Erica Medlin and Jieke Stroobant. Freshmen Hylan Miller and Kenzie Hill also lost an 8-5 decision to Krissy Lankelma and Sydney Wolfe.

In singles competitions, the Mavs battled hard, but came away with no wins. At No. 1 singles, Tran lost to Medlin in a three-set struggle: 6-4, 2-6, 1-0 (10-3). Also playing well was sophomore Tiffany Hottman, who surrendered to Wolfe 7-5, 6-2 at the No. 6 position.

Omaha is back in action next Saturday, Feb. 22, when it travels to Grand Forks, N.D., to take on Idaho State and host North Dakota.
