The Teams
Omaha (4-4, 0-0 Summit League) went 1-1 over the weekend. The Mavs dropped a 77-66 decision at Eastern Illinois on Friday, before defeating Milwaukee 64-61 on Sunday afternoon.
Bakersfield (6-1, 0-0 WAC) defeated UC Riverside 66-65 at home on Saturday afternoon.
Scouting the Mavericks
Omaha (4-4 overall, 0-0 Summit League) returns home after splitting a pair of road games over the weekend. The Mavericks have two players who score in double digits. UNO is led by sophomore guard Mikaela Shaw who is averaging a double-double this season. Shaw leads the team in points (14.1) and rebounds (10.1). She has had three double-double performances this season and scored double digits five times this season. Junior Brianna Bogard is second on the team in points per game (11.1). Bogard has scored at least 20 points twice this season and has been in double digits four times. Lanese Bough, a senior guard, leads the team with 37 assists and 23 steals. She also is second on the team in rebounds per game (5.4).
The Mavericks are shooting 40.1 percent from the field (188-of-469) and average 41.1 rebounds per game. The Mavs are holding their opponents to 34.2 percent from the field (163-of-476). Omaha holds a 41.1-39.9 rebounding advantage over their opponents this season.
Scouting the Roadrunners
Bakersfield (6-1, 0-0 WAC) will be playing its third road game of the season when they visit Omaha on Thursday night. The Roadrunners have four players average double digit points this season. Senior guard Tyonna Outland leads Bakersfield in points (18.3) and is second in rebounds (6.7). Outland has led the team in scoring and rebounding three times this season. Senior Dajy Vines is second on the team in scoring (15.0), but will miss the remainder of the season with a knee injury suffered against Fresno State. Brooklynn Hinkens, a senior guard, averages 13.3 points and shoots 45.2 percent (19-of-42) from beyond the three point arc. Batabe Zempare averages 10.2 points and 9.6 rebounds per game.
The Roadrunners are shooting 39.9 percent from the field (191-for-479) and 38.0 percent (52-of-137) from distance. Bakersfield shoots 76.9 percent (100-of-130) from the free throw line.
