Box Score INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Omaha women's soccer team saw its 2014 campaign come to an end on Sunday afternoon with a 2-0 defeat to IUPUI in Indianapolis, Ind.
The Jaguars struck quickly on the second shot of the match. Torri Minnich played a ball behind the Omaha defense allowing Krissy Kirkhoff a clear shot on goal. Kirkhoff finished the opportunity to put IUPUI ahead 1-0 just 1:55 into the game. The goal was the eighth of the season for Kirkhoff.
IUPUI doubled its advantage less than ten minutes later. Kalli Shepler-Tucker found Krissy Kirkhoff in the penalty area with a well-placed pass. Kirkhoff slotted her shot just inside the right post for her second goal of the game and her ninth of the season.
Omaha's Nyoke Dumba had a chance to cut the lead in half in the 77th minute, but her shot was saved by IUPUI's Catherine Schmidt. Anna Sibson had a chance just two minutes later, but Schmidt denied Sibson.
Omaha was unable to breakdown an organized IUPUI defense on the afternoon while being limited to 11 shot attempts with just three shots on target in 90 minutes of action.
Chelsi Rohloff had a team high three shots for the Mavericks. Courtney Neville added two shots. Goalkeeper Haley Shelton made nine saves on the afternoon.
Omaha ends the season with a 5-12-2 overall record and a 3-3-2 record in the Summit League. IUPUI improves to 7-9-3 overall and 5-3 in league play.
