OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha women's tennis team dropped its first road match on Friday afternoon, falling 7-0 at Iowa State. UNO is now 0-2 (0-0 Summit League), while the Cyclones improve to 2-0 (0-0 Big 12).
 
The Mavericks got a slow start in doubles play and did not recover from the early deficit.  Iowa State won the doubles point by seizing two of the doubles matches. For UNO at No. 1 doubles, senior Alex Tran and junior Jacqueline Baude lost 6-1. At No. 2 doubles, the freshman duo of Hylan Miller and Kenzie Hill lost to Meghan Cassens and Ana Gasparovic, 6-0. The No. 3 doubles match was stopped with sophomores Tiffany Hottman and Molly Matricardi trailing 4-3 against Caroline Andersen and Lydia Green.

UNO then continued to singles play, where Tran picked up games in each set at the No. 1 position but lost 6-1, 6-2 against Ksenia Pronina. Senior Lindsay Weideman was also able to record wins in each set at the No. 5 singles position but dropped a decision to Lydia Green, 6-1, 6-2. 
 
Omaha returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 25, traveling to Iowa. The match is slated for an 11 a.m. start in Iowa City, Iowa.
